95 Butchers Contract Animal Diseases in Bauchi

95 out of the 280 butchers investigated in Bauchi State have been confirmed positive with animals related diseases.
A medical practitioner Dr. Philip Bobbodi Gawayi who led the investigation disclosed this while distributing medicine free of charge to the affected butchers in Azare Headquarters of Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi State, said the medical team carried out investigation to butchers in abattoirs in Bauchi, Azare and Misau, and out of the 280 butchers investigated 95 were affected with the disease”.
Dr. Philip said the disease is common to animals but also affects people who have regular contact with animal meat as well as people who drink raw animals.
He said the symptoms of the disease includes high fever, headache, sweating in the night sometimes infected persons cannot talk, also pregnant woman may have miscarriage as a result of the disease.
Dr. Philip said the distributed medicine will be enough to cure the patients without taking any other medicine and advised them to take their drugs as prescribed.He said the medicine was supplied to the patience by the Federal Government through the center for investigation on animal related diseases of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture.
Permanent Secretary of the Bauchi State Ministry of Agriculture Dr. Musa Bala Lukshi thanked the center for providing the medicine and advised the affected people to take their drugs serious
The Wazirin Sarkin Fawan Katagum, Mallam Muhammad Sarkin Fawa thanked the Federal Government for gesture and commended the butchers for cooperating with the authorities.
