APC Better Off Without Defectors, Says Oshiomhole

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has, in a reaction to the defection of some Senators and Members of the House of Representatives from the party, expressed happiness over their decision.

According to Oshimhole, those who left were only in the APC to win elections and now that they had left ahead of the electioneering, the stage was now set for the APC to concentrate on winning the elections in 2019.

He said even while they were in the APC, they constituted themselves as opposition within the party.

Addressing State House correspondents after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, in the aftermath of the defections, the party chairman said said those who left were “mercenaries.”

He said he was not losing sleep over the defections just as the APC was not “not disturbed at all.”

He further stated that the defections could not affect the fortunes of APC because President Buhari got more votes than them in their own constituencies in the last general election, and described those who left the party as right wing politicians who believe in the philosophy of “share the money” and did not belong to the progressives group.
