From Obinna Ibe, Umuahia

Former lawmaker in old Imo state House of Assembly and kinsman to IPOB leader, Hononourable Godfrey O. Onyemaobi has disassociated himself from the current call for actualisation Republic of Biafra insisting that there is no need for it.

Onyemaobi, disclosed this to Daily Asset while reacting to barrage of attacks from his Igbo brothers resulting from his lack of support for IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu is his kinsman from Afaraukwu, town.

The chieftain of APC maintained that he was already a graduate who just returned to the country from London and witnessed how his people were killed during the Biafra/Nigeria civil war. Therefore, will not now support anything that will break the country as being champion by pro Biafra agitators.

Onyemaobi who served as Special Advisers to the former governments of Orji Uzor Kalu and T A Orji respectively (1999-2007) pointed out that those at the forefront of Biafra agitation are  crowds with no pedigree stressing that you cannot see anybody that is outstanding in what he described as mob action.

“I do not believe in mob action, Biafra, I believe in Nigeria because I was born a Nigerian and will not join the bandwagon to break it,” Honourable Onyemaobi said.

The veteran politician told our Correspondent that issue of Biafra and pitiable situation Igbo’s found themselves in today’s Nigeria will not be solved through mob action but with brain while blaming Ohanaze Ndigbo for a belated action in constituting a 100 man committee that will chart the way forward for the race.

The retired senior bank manager turned politician further disclosed that Igbo’s have invested heavily in Nigerian project in that there is no part of the country you will not see their huge investments ask what will happen you request for visa to go to such places within Nigeria when Biafra is actualised.

Onyemaobi, however advocated for a return to 1963 constitution as a panacea to this agitation noting that it worked best for the country then before the military struck.

He pointed out that now that we have 36 States with 6 Geopolitical zones, that there is dire need to revisit 1963 constitution where states controlled resources that accrued to it with certain percentage paid to the government at the centre.
