The Benue State Commissioner of Finance, Mr David Olofu has admonished civil servants in the state to keep faith with Governor Samuel Ortom and return him to power in March 2 governorship polls.Olofu who spoke to newsmen on Thursday, shortly after an end-of-year party for staff of his ministry in Makurdi, re-echoed the
priority of the governor on the welfare of civil servants, noting that Ortom was the best person out of the candidates to alleviate the plight of Benue people.
Mr Olufu assured civil servants of the state of tireless efforts by governor Ortom to offset their salaries soon, emphasizing that the trust they have in the governor can never be abused when he is voted in for the second time.
“The Civil Servants in Benue State should continue to trust His Excellency Dr Samuel Ortom to protect their interests, like you know in 2018 January, he did promised that he will be paying salary as at when due and he has fulfilled that promise. As I speak with you, he has paid the salary for December, 2018 and we are hoping and believing that by the end of January 2019 we will also pay salary.
“We are aware of the arrears and we are doing everything possible to source for more funds to clear the arrears. I believe strongly that His Excellency Dr Samuel Ortom is the best person placed right now among all the people that are looking for this job to protect the interest of Benue State, not just for the workers of Benue State, but he has firmly stood by Benue, and he has shown that at all times, he is with Benue People and would continue to protect and defend them,” Mr Olufu said.
