Benue State Government has handed over 300 hectares of land to Golden Shaik Limited as part of its contribution for the construction of a Free Trade Zone (FTZ) in the state.
The land which has a window for future expansion is located in Ayoko (1) in Nyiev community of Guma Local Government Area of the state.
The Governor who was represented at the event by his commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Tersoo Kpelai, expressed gladness that the state government’s long time dream to bring succour closer to the people of the community has become a reality with the location of two gigantic industries- the Cargo Airport in Ayoko 2 and now the Free Trade Zone in Ayoko 1.
He disclosed that establishment of the free trade zone will be based on Public, Private Partnership, PPP arrangement, for an effective public resource management.
Dr. Kpelai who called on members of the host community to cooperate with the investing partners, said soon surveyors would mobilize to carry out
their bindings at the location so that the company developers can move to site.
He assured the investors that measures has already been put in place by the state government for adequate security to ensure smooth take off of work at the site.
In a remark, Executive Secretary, State Emergency Management Agency, Boniface Ortese, advised his kinsmen to be sincere with the investors and
abstain from adding fictitious names on list of those claiming compensation noting that after full compensation have been paid the piece of land automatically becomes the property of the company.
Receiving the government officials and the investors on behalf of the community, Chief J. T. Azulo expressed gratitude to Governor Samuel Ortom
for bringing development to their area and expressed hope that the Free Trade Zone will give their children employment He assured the investors of the willingness of the community to cooperate with the investors for a successful take off of the Free Trade Zone.
Responding on behalf of the company, the Managing Director/CEO, Samuel Shangevde Adzongo said the company will build social amenities in the area such as school, hospital and electricity as part of its corporate responsibility.
“The project is going to generate 10,000 jobs and the host community will be the first beneficiary. The factories will also be build to enhance value addition for your Agric produce, “ Mr. Adzongo noted.
He intimated that AYR who is the financial of the project through directinvestment will pay compensation to the community.
