Foremost Tiv professionals group, Club de Pals has congratulated the Publisher/CEO, Daily Asset Newspaper, Dr. Cletus Akwaya for establishing the media outfit.
President of the club, Mr. Terfa Agor, who led a delegation of members to the corporate office of the newspaper on a courtesy visit expressed delight in the feat achieved by one of their own.The president said that Dr. Akwaya had recently informed them about the development, so they decided to come to the head office of the newspaper and formerly register their appreciation, offer advice and also pray for him.
The club as a mark of honour presented a plaque to the publisher.
Responding, Dr. Akwaya said, he was most humbled by the visit and the kind words they said about DAILY ASSET Newspaper, noting that since the office was officially commissioned over a month ago, group was the first organisation to pay such visit.
The Publisher said: “It is not easy to find people encouraging others especially when it comes to peer group.
“In your case (Club de Pals), you have shown by your conduct that you are different, forward looking and progressive organisation which has chosen to identify with me, encourage and to show solidarity by actually coming”.
“With the trust you have in us, we will make sure we succeed,” he said pointing out that the media occupied a central position in the affairs of the country. ‘‘There is hardly anything you can do successfully without the media.’’
He said, “we are operating democracy and democracy thrives on the altar of free speech and the free speech is handled on the platform of the media and it becomes part and parcel of the democracy.
In his remarks, the Editor, DAILY ASSET Newspaper, Mr. Danusa Ocholi, said it was a great honour to receive the organisation.
Ocholi, said “I want to assure you that this newspaper will go a long way, and so far, the responses we are getting are quite encouraging. Thank you for taking your time to visit us and it will be gracious for you to give us your support. This visit has given us a great boost.”
