“As you can see, we have come to identify with our friend, brother and colleague, Hon Betara for the honour done to him by the entire people and the community of Biu local government and his constituency at large. So the entire four local governments are here to honour their son for what he has been doing for his constituency.

“What we have seen today is unbelievable and is history in the making. The Emir blessed him and prayed for him as a father of this area. The Emir said in his lifetime, he had never experienced such rapid development in Biu local government until Hon Betara’a time as a member of the House of Representatives and we hope to achieve more when he becomes the Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives,” Jika said.

He said, “We have seen one of the wonders of the world. To the best of my knowledge, this is the first time I have ever seen this kind of crowd and this kind of honour given to somebody as an individual. “They started to generate only N10 million but at the end of the day, they generated more than N120 million. What is surprising is that there are contributors that contributed even N20. This would tell you that they have contributed everything they have just for Betara to come back to the National Assembly.

“For us, he has made us proud. He is our colleague. He is our friend and we are proud of him. I wish him all the best and one of the best I wish him is for him to become the Speaker of the 10th National Assembly because we are strongly behind him. Insha Allah, we are going back to the National Assembly to elect him as our Speaker because we know he is going to continue from where our able Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, stops.”

The member representing Chanchaga Federal Constituency of Niger State in the House, Hon Mohammed Umar Bago, said the support was well deserved. “We say congratulations to Hon Betara. He is being well appreciated by his people. He has done so much for them. And the people are appreciative. This is what we call democracy. This is what we call humanity. He has given back to the society”.

APC Upholds MacDonald’s Exco in Imo

By Jude Opara, Abuja

The All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday upheld the MacDonald Ebere led State Executive Committee in Imo state.

Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Yakubu Ajaka told newsmen after a meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling party.

Recall that on the 15th of June, a letter earlier written by the Deputy Secretary, Festus Fonta recognized the leadership of Hon.

Dan Nwafor.

Ajaka said; “The National Working Committee NWC just finished a meeting now and in their decision rescind that letter.

“So the status quo in Imo remains that the MacDonald  Ebere led state Committee remains the substantive Chairman of the party in Imo state.

“There is no change of leadership, so what happened was just a mere mistake. The Supreme Court judgement was very clear, the current executive of MacDonald was a product of Congress.

“The Congress that produced Nwafor’s group has just elapsed by decision of NEC in 2022. So the current Exco there now is the only recognized leadership in Imo.

“This is the decision of the NWC today”.

When asked why the National Secretary was not in the meeting, Ajaka said that the Deputy Secretary who signed was present at the NWC meeting.

Agara told them that the paperless work does not matter the qualifications of an individual but how one can handle the machine, urging them to use the opportunity to improve their skills based on the technicality involved in the work and assured them of adequate security and welfare throughout the twelve days training of the enumerators.

He said those that did not receive text messages but their names were captured in the Master list of Five thousand one hundred and ninety-nine names to be reassured that they are part of the program, admonishing them to cooperate with their facilitators to achieve success.

Some facilitators and enumerators interviewed, Amanda Litini Apatak and Felix Ajuda, applauded the National population commission for allowing them to serve, saying that they have learned a lot with two days of their training.
