DAILY ASSET Maiden Awards: Makarfi Is Man of The Year

In keeping with our mission statement to make modest contributions to the development of the country, ASSET Newspapers Ltd is taking another bold step in the pursuit of our self-given mandate. We are set to recognise and appreciate distinguished Nigerian leaders, organisations and institutions whose contributions to nation building in their chosen endeavours stood them out in the year 2017.

After several days of meetings, the Editorial Board of DAILY ASSET last week decided on the final list of those deserving of the Newspaper’s maiden awards. On the whole, 12 awards will be presented to deserving winners in various categories.

The decision was not easy in some of the categories. The reason is simple. In a country of about 200 million people where there is fierce competition for the available space to excel in various aspects of our national life, the choice of who really excelled out of the many contenders was  not  an easy one, despite the clear criteria established by members of the Editorial Board. This explains why some awards were shared by more than one winner, who in the wisdom of the Board, were equally deserving of recognition.

The Editorial Board was however, guided by the patriotic duty to build a tradition of national appreciation so that citizens with patriotic zeal to make a unique contribution will be encouraged to continue to excel and at the same time others will be motivated to go the extra mile in making outstanding contributions wherever they find themselves, believing that their efforts will not go unnoticed.

According to a statement issued by the Management of ASSET Newspapers Ltd, the award winners will be publicly honoured at a colourful ceremony in February 2018 in Abuja.

The DAILY ASSET AWARDS, the statement said will henceforth become a significant annual national event which every Nigerian can look forward to as it promises to provide fertile grounds to feel pulse of the nation’s best.

“We promise to make it not only a forum for intellectual refreshment, robust interaction and cross fertilization of ideas towards national growth, but also an avenue for motivation of the younger generation to pursue excellence in their different callings” the statement further said.

While congratulating the award winners, the Newspaper company said it felt fulfilled to commence the maiden awards with reputable Nigerian leaders and organisations whose track records of excellence were not in doubt.
