A university don, Prof Charles Onovughe has challenged President Muhammadu Buhari to as a matter of urgency to account for the billions of Naira recovered from the looted funds, warning that if the president fails to do so, it means Nigeria is being governed by messy corrupt leader.
Onovughe, a lecturer at the Delta State Owned university ( DELSU), who spoke to newsmen in Abraka on Wednesday, noted that the federal government has failed to utilize the money recovered from Looters’ to improve the economic fortunes of Nigerians, adding that the current administration led by president Buhari had recovered so much money from looters Since it came on board, and wondered why the government was yet to tell Nigerians what it did with the money.
He said “the federal government has recovered so much money from looters, yet there is nothing to show for it, we only hear of money being recovered for the past three years and counting, federal government owe Nigerians what the money had been used for, in fact, the money recovered from General Sani Abacha and Dieziani Maduekwe, is it not enough for Nigerians to enjoy and start Business if they have any reasonable Jobs doing, My question is where are all these money”?
The university Don claimed that with the huge sums of money recovered from looters, it was Surprising that Nigerians were still living in abject poverty, and Called on the federal government to account for the money it
recovered, adding that failure to do would mean that the current administration’s fight against Corruption was a ruse.
On Governor Okowa’s re-election, Onovughe said Delta state under his administration had been remarkable and appealed to Deltans to continue to support the governor and vote massively for him to enable him add more value to their lives, regretting that under president Buhari the nation had witnessed massive job loss while 90 million Nigerians are hitherto living in extreme poverty.
While expressing optimism in year 2019, Onovughe said Deltans should expect more developments under the watch of Dr Okowa when voted into power for the second term , adding, “we should allow peace to reign in Delta State, the only way we as Deltans will continue to lead”
