I Became a Hardened Criminal in Prison – Suspect
A Leader of a suspected notorious armed robbery syndicate identified as Shamsudeen Dahiru has confessed on how he was initiated into becoming a hardened criminal in the prison custody.
Dahiru made the confession when he was paraded by the Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, Mohammed Wakili alongside two other members of his gang for various criminal offences in the state.
The suspect said he met one Hussaini Boda, in prison and they became friends after which he initiated him into becoming a hardened criminal.According to him, “Hussaini Boda initiated me into stealing. He is currently in the prison custody in Kaduna. He is my friend. We met in the prison custody.
“Before, we jump into people’s houses to steal motorcycle. We lift each other up to climb through the fence and open the door. We carry the machine out and seperate the ignition which enables to steal the motorcycle.
“But here, this was the first attempt to use gun to steal motorcycle. Alhaji Garba in Niger Republic gave one of his boys (Nura) gun to steal motorcycle and bring to him. All he is interested in is the goods and not money.
“I found myself doing these as a result of hardship and poverty and I have made a vow that if I am released from this ordeal I will not go back to it again because it is against my religion,” Dahiru said.
The suspect said he has a wife and a child.
The Police Commissioner said Dahiru (27-years) was arrested alongside Abdullahi Lawal (25-years) and Usman Abdullahi (24-years) all of Funtua Local Government Area of Katsina state.
Wakili, said the command succeeded in arresting the suspects following a tip off information.
He also said one Automatic Pistol with breach number and eight rounds of live ammunitions recovered from the suspects.
“Suspects have confessed to several armed robbery incidents in Funtua Katsina state. They will be arraign in court immediately investigation is completed,” CP Wakili however said.
