IGP Harps on One United Nigeria

The Inspector General of Police,Mr Ibrahim Idris has emphasized the need for the unity of the country stressing that there is greater exploited if we coexist as one united country.
IGP stated this at Umuahia when he visited to felicitate and commiserate with the people of Abia state over the recent ugly incident between IPOB members and Nigerian Army where scores of lives,properties destroyed in the ensuing face off.
The IGP pointed out that Nigeria ought to be bigger than what it is presently given the human and material resources that are abound in the country.
He maintained that every part of this country has strength in the unity and development if our comparative advantage is harnessed to the fullest.
The Inspector General of Police therefore lauded Abia state Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu for taken necessary action to ensure that the security situation did escalate to uncontrollable proportions.
Earlier in his welcome address,Abia state Governor ,Dr Okezie Ikpeazu said that the essence of the IGP:s visit is to felicitate and commiserate with us over what happened in the state few days ago.
Governor Ikpeazu added that the visit is to reaffirm our faith in one united Nigeria and our commitment as one indivisible entity in the Nigerian project.
He described the ugly incident as an ill wind that does anybody any good
while reiterating the fact that Abia is a peaceful state .
He assured that for us in Abia that we will continue to harbour our Northern brothers and be our brothers keeper noting that we are better off as one united Nigeria.
Abia governor commended IGP for finding time to visit and to reassure Abians that all is well in the state.
As for the traditional ruler of Hausa/Fulani in Abia state, HRH Sarki Yaro Danladi said that the Northerns are happy to be associated with Governor Ikpeazu on how he has been catering for their welfare in the state.
He stated that the Northern community in Abia cannot thank Governor Ikpeazu enough for his kind disposition towards them stating he was born and brought up in Umuahia and to cap it all ,married an Igbo lady from
therefore see himself and his family an an integral part of the state despite the fact he is an Hausa man by birth.
Sarki Danladi appreciated the IGP visit assuring him that there is no cause for alarm.
Whereas the President General of Yoruba United in Abia, Alhaji Abiola Mufutau Taiye also said they are safe living and doing business in Abia.He pleaded with Governor Ikpeazu to assist them get Yoruba Oba that will help them reach government like Hausa/Fulani that leverages on the Sarki to get their dues from government Alhaji Taiye said he has been living in Umuahia for the past 45 years as aartisan, that he is a tailor by profession and all schooling was in Abia state thus he and family are part of the state. He further explained that there are about 100,000 Youbas in Abia doing one kind of job or the other.
Also, Ikenna Benjamin Balogu speaking on behalf of Nigerian students said they will continue to work with police to ensure that there is peace in Abia .He commended Governor Ikpeazu for ensuring that lives and properties of students are protected in Abia state especially so at the height of IPOB/Army clash in the state.
The students body conferred an award on Abia governor for assisting to restore peace and normalcy returns when IPOB/Nigerian Army clash in Abia.
