Affiliates of the trade union congress, the association of senior civil servants of Nigeria and the joint public service negotiating council has begun a three-day warning strike at all offices of the national insurance commission over allegations of indiscriminate granting of waivers, punitive transfers

In a protest at NAICOM headquarters in Abuja, on Thursday, business activities were paralyzed as protesting workers blocked the entrance to the building demanding for the removal of the commissioner for insurance, Mohammed Kari for what they termed breach of executive orders, government policies and circular.

The protesting workers also accused Kari of disregarding agreements reached at a meeting with the minister of labour and employment, Chris Ngige on all issues of concern.

As at the time of this report authorities at NAICOM were yet to respond to the allegations, as the insurance commissioner, Mohammed Kari, was said to be out of town.
