The people of Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State will have cause to heave a sigh of relief from staying under the tents and canopies while holding community meeting in Abejukolo, the headquarters of the council, as the member representing the constituency in the state House of Assembly Honourable Aliyu Akuh has commenced the construction of a multi-million Naira Ife Development Association town hall building.
Akuh, stated that he has always been pained whenever he sees the collapsed IDA hall and has as a result always prayed to God to assist him to contribute his quota to the development of the constituency, saying the flag off of the project was a fulfillment of his promise to God to impact on his people in this regard.
He stated this recently while showcasing his constituency and social services projects to the people of the area.
“Today the IDA hall to be constructed by me will relieve our people from the trauma and agony of having their important community meeting under the sun and rain.
“The old town hall building was destroyed by torrential rainfall and if all of us just fold our hands without doing something about it, then we have collectively failed our land. It is on the basis of this that I have decided to commit my resources and constituency fund to the building of this befitting edifice for our people.
“This project is for all the sons and daughters of Omala and I implore every one with means to contribute his resources for its early completion. The project is in dire need of our collective contribution. It has never been in my character that only me should build an edifice for the overall good of our people.
“I consider it as a direct labour in which everyone is to contribute his energy and finance to enable prompt completion of the project. I therefore encourage all and sundry to pay attention to the project and not to say it is my project. God is only using me to kickstart the project.” He stated.
He explained that the members of Assembly have no financial votes unlike their executive counterpart, but has strived to utilise the meagre resources at his disposal accruable to him for the benefits of the people.
While promising to embark on more project, noted that has built some lock up and open shops at Bagana, and Ibado markets , police stations and residential building for the police at Icheke and donation of a Siena Volkswagen bus to the Omala members of Okada Riders Association, even as he sunk boreholes in some villages, were part of his passion to bring succor the people.
In his remark, the chairman Omala Area Traditional council, HRH Boniface Musa , the Ojogba of Ife commended the lawmaker for his development strives called on all meaning sons and daughters of the area to emulate him.
