The kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin has said that it has developed Anti-coronavirus hand Sanitizer to contain the spread of the killer COVID-19 pandemic which is currently ravaging the world.
A lecturer in the department of Science Laboratory Technology in the institution, Mr Olaolu Adeyemo said that the production of the sanitizer was necessitated by the school’s observation that the sanitizer in the market did not conform with the standard of the World Health organization (WHO).
While presenting the sanitizer to the Deputy Governor, Mr Kayode Alabi, who is the chairman of the Kwara state Technical Committee on COVID-19 on Tuesday, Adeyemo said that “the anti Corona sanitizer was designed after we realized that some of the available ones in circulation do not comply with specified standard by World Health Organisation.
The Deputy governor praised the Polytechnic for the timely intervention at this crucial time of the country’s history and appealed to other well-meaning Nigerians to emulate this laudable initiative of the Institution.
The Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, Hajia Saadatu Modibo-kawu also commended the ingenuity of the staff of the Institution in meeting up with the technological needs of the country.
The Rector of the Polytechnic, Engr Abdul-Jimoh Muhammed explained that the Polytechnic went into action to assist the government at all levels in curtailing the spread of the virus.
He pledged that the Institution would keep supporting the government at all levels to curtail the virus.
The Rector was accompanied by principal officers and other staff of the Polytechnic.
