LG Organises Reception for Basic Education Commissioner

Sarkin Zamfara ‘A’ Ward of Sokoto South Local Government has organised a reception party in honour of State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Professor Aisha Madawaki Isah.

It would be recalled Aisha Isah, who is the first female Professor in Educational Psychology in Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara States, was recently appointed a commissioner.

Chairman of the occasion and Director-General, Sokoto Chamber of Commerce Alhaji Dani Musa, said the reception which began with reading from the Glorious Qur’an was organised to boost her moral in the discharge of her assignment.

Representative of the state Deputy Governor, Special Adviser Skills Acquisition Ya’u Muhammad Danda, special guest of honour and Jarman Sokoto Alhaji Ummarun Kwabo congratulated the commissioner and urged her to justify the confidence reposed on her especially in promoting girl-child education in the state.

He also appealed to parents to support education of their daughters so as to compliment state of emergency declared by the current administration in the education sector.

During the event, Chief Imam of Sultan Maccido Jumu’at Mosque Dr. Sami Muhammad Dangoggo delivered a lecture on ‘Leadership, ‘Principal Hafsat Ahmadu Bello Arabic Secondary school Abdullahi Maikano spoke on the ‘Importance of girl-child education’, while Malam Ladan Muhammad spoke on ‘Unity among Ummah’.

Other speakers who avail the celebration with words of advice described Professor Aisha as humble and dedicated educationist.

“We know she is going to do her best, she deserves it, she would do more than what has been to the Ministry as an educationist, and so intelligent that no one can predict the much she  can render”, said one of her close friend.

The commissioner obtained her first and second degree from Usman Danfodio University Sokoto and doctorate degree from Bayero University Kano.

Before her recent appointment, she served in many capacities as Commissioner for Women Affairs, state chairman Teachers Service Board, external examiner and supervisor for many higher Institutions in the country.

She thanked the organisers of the reception and promised to justify the confidence reposed on her especially human development.

“I really don’t have words to thank them, what I would say is I would pray for their daily success in life. I received the national honor of the Member of the order of Federal Republic of Nigeria, but this is much more than what I received from other organizations, because for one to be honoured from the grassroots, from his local government, from his ward, is worth commending, I therefore thanked everyone”, she said.
