Gov. Bello Matawalle has lauded President Muhammadu Buhari and Security forces for the return of law and order in

 the state.

This is contained in a statement  in Gusau on Sunday by the Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Ibrahim Dosara.

Matawalle said the  recent order by the President to security agencies to deal decisively with bandits in the North-west states and central yielded results.

The governor said the synergy amongst security operatives deployed to the state greatly helped in reducing the scale of banditry in the state.

According to him, the government of Zamfara  is happy to notify the general public that the security situation has significantly improved in the state.

“A survey conducted last week across the state shows that there has been little or no banditry activities in most of the local government  areas of the state.

“Except in some isolated cases in parts of Bukkuyum, Gummi, Anka, Maru, Talata Mafara, Gusau, and Maradun,” Matawalle said.

Matawalle commended the media for what he described as “overwhelming and welcomed development” in Zamfara.

“The hitherto waves of attacks, killings, kidnappings, and raping of women has drastically reduced and people are now seen carrying out their legitimate businesses in most parts of the state.

“The government and good people of Zamfara  are therefore,  expressing their appreciation to the collaboration between the security agencies and government,” he said.

The governor lauded the Federal Government for the renewed determination to end banditry and other criminality in the Northwest region and the country.

Matawalle, however, appealed to the federal security forces to continue to support his administration in its resolve to restore peace in all parts of the state.

“I can confidently assure the public that, Zamfara is on the path of peace. It will insha’Allah be secured and peaceful,” Matawalle said. (NAN)

By Laide Akinboade, Abuja
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, haom Wednesday,  expressed satisfaction with the quality and speed of the ongoing road constructions in Kuje, Kuje Area Council.
The roads that were inspected by the Minister included, the six-lane dual carriageway from Airport Expressway to Kuje Junction and the five-kilometre dual carriageway from Garage Junction to LEA Secretariat, in Kuje.

The minister explained that the five-kilometre dual carriage way from Garage Junction to LEA Secretariat was nominated by the council’s chairman and stakeholders in the area.

He said that the contractor has done earth work covering 2.
5 kilometres, adding that what would follow was the drainage.
According to the Minister, “The Area Council Chairman and the stakeholders in Kuje were the ones that nominated this road. And the road is 5 kilometers and just like what the contractor said, they started from where they have difficulty so that by the time they get to where there is consent they would have sorted out the issues.
“From what they have said today, they have done the earthwork to 2 kilometers and they said before the end of the year they would have completed this particular road.
“And the one from the airport to Kuje city here, which is being handled by the Arab contractors, you can see that their work is going on very well.
“And with the quality of work we are quite satisfied too. The contractor said before the end of the year they would have completed the earthwork. It gladdens our heart that we are meeting our targets.”
Earlier, Mr Shehu Ahmad, Executive Secretary, Federal Capital Development Authority, said that the road, linking the Airport Expressway to Kuje township would cover 11 kilometres.
Ahmad explained that between the airport expressway to Kuje junction, the road would cross over two rivers and also cross over the Outer Southern Expressway that would link the city centre with Gwagwalada Expressway.
He added that the Airport Expressway to Kuje Junction would cover nine kilometres, while the remaining two kilometres would extend backward towards Kyami District.
He explained that one of the major constraints affecting the delivery of the road was the presence of five towers belonging to the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) along the road corridor.
The FCDA boss added that TCN have been contacted and have agreed to relocate the towers, stressing that until the obstructions were removed, work could not take place in the affected areas.
