NCC Completes Framework For Spectrum Sharing

The Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC), said it has completed a new framework that would give telecommunication companies the opportunity to participate in spectrum sharing.

The commission also said it is in the process of coming up with a new data price regime.

Executive vice-chairman of NCC, Umar Danbatta, who disclosed during his induction as a Fellow of the Nigeria Academy of Engineering (NAE), explained that “With the new framework, you can transfer, lease and share your spectrum.”

He said the recent achievements of the commission would ensure optimum utilisation of spectrum.

Danbatta said the recognition by the NAE was a testimony of the NCC’s relevance not only within Nigerian universities but across borders, adding that it would spur the commission to double efforts in boosting the Nigerian economy.

Danbatta was inducted alongside 11 others, at the investiture of Prof Fola Lasisi, as the 10th president of the academy.
