Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori is fostering unity and strengthening social cohesion across the state through inclusive governance, equitable resource distribution and people-oriented development initiatives, the State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, has said.

Aniagwu during an interview with TVC in Abuja at the weekend commended Oborevwori’s leadership style, which he described as transparent, just, and fair, noting that it has built trust among Deltans and bridged long-standing ethnic and political divides. “Governor Oborevwori is not just building roads and bridges; he is building trust and uniting the people of Delta State through purposeful governance,” Aniagwu said. “From Warri to Agbor, from Asaba to Oleh, every zone is feeling the impact of the government.”He noted that under the Governor’s MORE Agenda, the administration has embarked on impactful infrastructure projects, empowered local contractors through prioritization of local content, and encouraged community participation in development.Aniagwu said the even spread of projects and political appointments has helped reduce tensions and fostered a deeper sense of belonging among all ethnic groups and communities in the state.He also highlighted the administration’s commitment to transparency, citing the regular publication of project updates and financial reports as evidence of an open-door policy that encourages public trust and accountability.Addressing the recent political realignment that saw Governor Oborevwori and the state political structure move from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Aniagwu said the decision was strategic and necessary for the state’s development trajectory.“At some point, we were clear about why we had to leave our former party. Remaining in a structure where internal crises threatened the nomination processes would not serve the interests of development in our state,” he explained.He specifically referenced the unresolved controversy over the PDP’s National Secretary position as a major factor in the defection, citing its destabilizing impact on the party’s internal coherence.“Even just a few days ago, the INEC position on who should serve as the National Secretary of the PDP was still being contested,” Aniagwu said. “That kind of instability undermines the nomination process and, by extension, effective governance.”According to him, the transition to the APC was seamless, with all elected and appointed officials in the state moving in unity with the Governor.“We moved in what you might call one fell swoop. There was no dissent; all elected and appointed officials followed. That shows a unified resolve and agreement with the Governor’s leadership,” he stated.Aniagwu noted that the move has enhanced political stability and governance in Delta, creating room for stronger collaboration with the Federal Government in critical sectors such as infrastructure, health, and human capital development.“Our people now see that the decision to align with the center was the right one. We are already attracting greater collaboration with the Federal Government and reaping the dividends,” he said.He further disclosed that the state is pursuing international partnerships to support its development agenda, positioning Delta as a rising force in the Nigerian federation.While acknowledging that opposition voices will always exist, Aniagwu maintained that the administration remains focused on delivering good governance to all Deltans.“Even when you are fair and inclusive, there will always be individuals who try to distort reality to serve their political interests. That is expected in politics. But the truth is, we are united, peaceful, and moving forward,” he added.Aniagwu called on all Deltans to support Governor Oborevwori’s vision for a stronger and more prosperous state, emphasizing that sustained unity is essential for long-term growth and stability.
