Defection: The major opposition Peoples Democratic Party,( PDP) has advised all its members in the APC to return home and salvage the nationfrom its near collapse.
The party has also extended its hand of welcome to Governor samuel Ortom for returning and commended him for showing patriotic courage and boldness in the period of what they described as ‘brazen dictatorship
The party noted that the return of the governor to PDP confirms the fact that President Buhari’s led-administration and the APC has nothing to offer to Nigerians.
“We in PDP have warmly welcomed Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state back to our fold and urged all our members in the All Progressives Congress (APC) to return home and salvage the nation”.
PDP, in a statement by its national publicity secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, hailed Governor Ortom for showing patriotic courage and boldness in these times of brazen dictatorship.
“The return of the governor to PDP confirms the fact that President Muhammadu Buhari’s led-administration and the APC do not have the welfare of Nigerians at heart, as they have continually offer flimsy excuses over the mindless killings that have caused untold sorrows across the country, particularly, Benue State”.
“PDP recalls that the Buhari-led government has failed in its basic responsibility of protecting live, property, territorial integrity of our nation.
“Painfully, Nigerians are being killed in Benue, Taraba, Plateau, Kaduna, Zamfara, Sokoto, nearly on daily basis”.
Meanwhile, Governor Samuel Ortom officially announced his resignation from the APC the party when he was prevented by the youths from attending the APC meeting.
There have been insinuations that the governor will quit the ruling party after he announced on Monday, July 16, that he has been given a red card by the APC leader, senator George Akume in the state.
