Twenty eight gallant officers of the Nigeria Police, Imo State Command have been rewarded by the state Commissioner of Police (CP) Chris Ezike with the sum of N1m for their display of uncommon zeal,courage, and hard work in crime fighting in the state.
The 28 officers were made up of officers from both the SARS and Anti-kidnapping squad of the command. 18 were rewarded for their efforts in the arrest of suspects who kidnapped and murdered Rev. Fr. Cyriacus
Onunkwo, 5 were honoured for their efforts in the arrest of suspects of the Gospel Singer Prince Chinedu Nwadike as a victim while another 5 for their hard work in the case of Johnbosco Okoro and one other as victims.
The Commissioner of Police while presenting a certificate and the cash award of One million naira to the officers said that the reward is far from being enough but is expected to act as a motivation to further their good works.
Ezike said that the he did that in fulfilment of his promise to courage the tenacity of the men of SARS and Anti-Kidnapping Squad whose hard work yielded the result and encourage crime fighting, operation blow the whistle and expose the criminals. He congratulated them for the average intelligence in the apprehension of the men of the underworld who have made life unbearable for the people and for being true professionals who have sworn to protect lives and property even at the risk of paying supreme sacrifices.
He said that the job is yet to be finished because criminals are never on casual or annual leave assuring to continue to collectively work round the clock to ensure that Imolites sleep with their both eyes closed.
He advised the offices that have been routine in their approach to professional duties to step up the game because indolence, unprofessional conducts, sabotage and criminal behaviour shall be punished just as good deeds are rewarded.
