Secondus in Makurdi, Rallies PDP Support For Ortom

From  Chris Gaga, Makurdi

The Peoples Democratic Party(PDP)has pledged total backing to Benue State  governor, Samuel  Ortom, to stave off impeachment threats by eight out of  30 members of the State House of Assembly.

The National Chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus made the declaration Wednesday, when he led three governors of the PDP, a Senator and other top Party members on  a solidarity visit to governor Ortom at the People House in Makurdi.

Prince Secondus who told the Benue State governor of the total backing of the National Leadership of the PDP, assured him of equal rights in the Party, even as he urged him not to get tired but remain strong in the face of obvious adversity.

“You have full rights of membership of the party”,Secoundus said.

The PDP National Chairman who also noted that Ortom was being persecuted  because he stood firm against the maiming of his people, accused APC government of masterminding the killings of innocent people across the country and challenged the APC -led federal government  to stop the Killings, crying out that “the blood is too much, the blood is too much, they must stop the killings”.

The PDP rejected attempted impeachment move by minority members of the Benue State House of Assembly, describing it as master plan of forces in Abuja who he said  were aware of those killing Benue people.

“Nigeria is in crisis and particularly in Benue State, we witnessed a drama that took place where eight members of the State Assembly purported that they have served the governor impeachment notice. We reject this from the National headquarters as it is renegade for a minority to fire a governor of a State. We are aware that the powers that be in Abuja are behind this. And this powers that be in Abuja are they not aware of the killings in Benue State? Are they not aware? They claim they don’t know. Even when the police besieged the Benue Assembly premises and stopped the Clerk and other workers from performing their legitimate duties, the powers that be definitely said they are not aware. When have they been aware?

“We insist that Benue State is for God, Benue State is for PDP and they shall never be for APC”, Secondus ranted.

Addressing the delegation, Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom dared that the State was “a no go area again for APC”, and assured that Benue was a PDP State

Governor Ortom who acknowledged former Senate President, David Mark and former Governor, Gabriel Suswam as his leaders in PDP expressed optimism that they would together work for the victory of the Party in 2019 polls.

The Benue State governor thanked the leadership of his reunion Party, the PDP for their support, but remarked that “as your prodigal Son am going to eat the fattest Cow”

In a remark on behalf of the PDP Governors, Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson   insisted that the tenets of democracy and constitutional provisions must be protected and respected  maintaining that the laws of Benue must be respected accordingly.

The Bayelsa State Governor who kicked against the spat of undemocratic tendencies looming the State said, “the nonsense going on in Benue makes no Common sense”. He welcomed governor Ortom back to the Umbrella Party noting that the Peoples mandate through him must be protected even as he assured him of not been alone.

The State Chairman of the PDP, Hon. John Ngbede appreciated the delegation led by its National Chairman for the visit and pledged the loyalty of the State Chapter of the PDP to the governor.
