Barcelona have unveiled new signing Nelson Semedo at the Nou Camp after securing the £30m signing of the Benfica youngster.
The Catalan giants officially confirmed the move for the 23-year-old right-back on Friday after the young defender successfully completed a medical and signed a five-year deal.
The talented youngster put pen to paper on a move worth up to £30m. It is believed Barcelona will pay more than £26m initially with the rest being spread across the length of the contract as bonuses.
The Lisbon-born Portugal international was snapped-up after last season’s La Liga runners-up failed to land Arsenal’s Spanish right-back Hector Bellerin.
The club announced the deal after they successfully negotiated the fee down from a reputed £43m with the Portuguese champions.
The capture marks new coach Ernesto Valverde’s third signing of the summer after the return of Gerard Deulofeu from Everton and the arrival of young centre-back Marlon.
Semedo, who has been capped six times for his national side is set to link up with this new team-mates for Friday evening’s training session.
He was part of the Portugal side that finished third at the Confederations Cup in Russia last month, getting sent off in the third-place play-off win over Mexico.
Barcelona are set to play their first pre-season match of the summer when they face Serie A champions Juventus on Saturday, July 22 in New Jersey in the International Champions Cup, a pre-season tournament taking place across the globe.
