Senator Wakili buried in Abuja￼ The remains of Senator Ali Wakili who slumped and died at his Gwarimpa residence in Abuja have been committed to mother earth according to Muslim rites. He reportedly died around 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, aged 58. ￼
The late senator was buried at Gudu District Cemetery in Abuja around 2:00 p.m. after Islamic rites were performed on his remains at the National Mosque. His two wives and sons and daughters were present during the funeral rites. Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari and other prominent Nigerian have described the demise of Wakili as monumental loss to the nation.
Deputy Senate President in his statement described Wakili as a very courageous lawmaker that Nigeria would miss.
Sympathizers who besieged his residence earlier in the day, moved to the National Mosque for ritual prayers before his remains were taken to the cemetery for burial. ￼
