The Nigerian Army 3 Amoured Division, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Rukuba Barrack near Jos, has opened it’s 2018 Inter-Brigade Army sports festival targeted at improving the combat proficiency of men and women of the Division.
The festival, which holds from November 13.15, 2018 will prepare the Division for the forthcoming 2018 Nigerian Army Sports Festival in the country.
The sports competition will provide athletic soldiers with “Physical skills, organizational ability, endurance and the promotion of the spirit-de corps among participating athletes, to enable them prepare properly for the forthcoming Nigerian Army Sports Festival 2018, which is slated to take place later in the year.”
The Deputy Director Army Public Relations 3 Division, Col. Kayode Ogunsanya made this known in a press statement issued to newsmen in Jos the Plateau State capital stating that training hold’s at the 3 Division Physical Training Ground Maxwell Khobe Cantonment Jos.
He said the threedays sport activities will recieved participation from 3 Division areas of responsibility consisting of , “ 3 Division Garrison Jos, Headquarters, 33 Artillery Brigade Bauchi, Headquarters 43 Engineer Brigade Jos, Headquarters 53 signals Brigade and 82 Battalion Jos,” respectively.
Ogunsanya maintained that the festival is “In line with the Nigerian Army Training Directives for the year 2018, Headquarters 3 Division to hold the 3 Division Inter- Brigade Nigerian Army Sports Festival (NAFEST ) 2018 from Tuesday 13 – Thursday 15 November 2018, at 3 Division Physical Training Ground, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment Jos.
“The aim of the competition is targeted at improving combat proficiency through physical skills, organizational ability, endurance, promotion of spirit- de corps among the participating athletes.
“Participating formations and units for the competition are drawn from 3 Division Area of Responsibility . They include: 3 Division Garrison Jos, Headquarters 33 Artillery Brigade Bauchi, Headquarters 43 Engineer Brigade Jos, Headquarters 53 signals Brigade and 82 Battalion Jos.
“The participating formations and units will compete in the following events: Combat Road Race (10 kilometres) and close half marathon (21 kilometres).
“This competition will afford the participating athletes to prepare properly for the forthcoming Nigerian Army Sports Festival 2018, which is slated to take place later in the year.”
