Stop blaming Jonathan its time to focus on governance: Amaechi to Buhari

After over 2 years in power, President Buhari’s Minister of Transport, Amaechi, says it is time to focus on governance and stop blaming Ex-President Jonathan.

Rotimi Amaechi, the Minister of Transport, has urged his colleagues to concentrate on delivering good policies to the citizens and stop blaming Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan for Nigeria’s woes.

“I agree with those who said we should stop criticising the last government and that we should do our own,” Amaechi said.

Mr. Amaechi who decried Nigeria’s infrastructural deficit, said that he went to the new airport in Singapore and saw amazing technologies at work. “As you walk in, technology takes over,” he said.

“We need to leverage on what we know. People are shouting intermodal transport; I went to the new airport in Singapore and I didn’t find one person at the airport.  The Minister called for an urgent renaissance in the country’s infrastructure, particularly in the information and communication technology area.

“They also said in the next few years, they would introduce driverless cars. We should also think outside the box about how to improve our transport sector and think less about how sun and moon affect the sector or building more bus stops. “We should see how much investment we can put in the area of ICT. Intelligence transportation should not be ignored,” he added.

The spokesman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Bolaji Abdullahi, also supported Mr. Amaechi’s call (as seen on Premium Times), saying that it was appropriate, as the party was not voted into power to amplify the woes of the previous administration. “Enough of blaming the previous administration, Nigerians want us to focus,” he said. “Yes, there were problems created by the previous administration, but Nigerians didn’t vote for us because they want us to be telling them who’s responsible. They want us to be solving problems,” he added.
