As the telecoms industry expanded, Ezeigbo secured partnership with a Chinese Company to produce the Techno brands of Smart phones with dual SIM. The Techno was initially resisted by the market but with improvements became the toast of low and middle income earners who desired smart phones but could hardly afford the established brands.
Today the SLOT Systems Ltd also deals in Infinix, one of the products Ezeigbo partners with the Chinese company to produce for the Nigerian market.

NTEL, the latest GSM operator sprouted on the legacies of the defunct Nigerian Telecommunications Ltd (NITEL) which won the fourth national operational license in the country at the advent of Global System for Mobile Communications(GSM). After acquiring the assets of the defunct NITEL, the successor company took its time to roll out services telecomm services in the country.
Starting out in three major cities of Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt with a 4G, GSM technology, NTEL offers easily one of the fastest and cheapest internet services in the country. The GSM operator has also deployed voice call operations which are absolutely toll free when calls are between NTEL lines! In the era where the distortions in the nation’s economy have made many services including telecoms a lot unaffordable by many families, the largesse by NTEL is undoubtedly a big relief to phone users in the country at least as long as the toll free operations last.
Besides, NTEL has introduced a number of customer – friendly products aimed at encouraging telephone and internet penetration in the country. One of such packages is the starter kit with payment terms spread across three months for workers who cannot afford a smart phone with one – off payment. This product has particularly endeared the company’s services to low income earners who nevertheless desire to enjoy smartphones with 4G internet services.
For introducing toll free calls within its network and introducing packages for incremental payment for start-up phone kits, thereby contributing to increase phone and internet penetration in areas where it has deployed its network, NTEL was nominated as DAILY ASSET Telecoms Company of the Year.
