Tinubu In Adamawa, Vows Defeat against Banditry, Terrorism
From Yagana Ali, Yola
President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to defeat banditry and terrorism across the country, declaring that Nigeria will ultimately prevail against forces threatening its peace and unity.
Speaking in Yola on Monday while commissioning projects executed by Umaru Fintiri, the President assured Nigerians that the Federal Government remains steadfast in its commitment to restoring security, particularly in troubled regions.
Tinubu praised the Armed Forces of Nigeria for their sacrifices and dedication in combating insurgency and banditry, pledging sustained support for troops in the discharge of their constitutional duties.
“We are grateful to the Nigerian armed forces for their commitment to liberating Nigeria from banditry and insurgency. Together, we will win,” the President said, urging governors and citizens to cooperate fully in strengthening security and national development.
The Commander-in-Chief also commended the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, describing him as honest, courageous and committed to the task of securing the nation. Ribadu, a retired Assistant Inspector General of Police and former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, was praised for what Tinubu described as visible results in ongoing security operations.
“With you, we will defeat the bandits and terrorists,” Tinubu told Ribadu, expressing confidence that the enemies of Nigeria would be flushed out.
Meanwhile, in a related development underscoring the nation’s security concerns, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, has called for urgent and intensified security measures following fresh threats against communities in Kwara State.
In a statement issued in Ibadan, the monarch condemned a reported threat letter allegedly dropped by suspected bandits at Ira market in Oyun Local Government Area, targeting the communities of Ira, Inaja and Aho and vowing to strike “anytime soon.”
Describing the development as a grave affront to the authority of the Nigerian state and the fundamental rights of citizens, the Alaafin urged the Federal Government and relevant security and intelligence agencies to deepen intelligence gathering, strengthen inter-agency cooperation, and deploy sustained, visible security presence in vulnerable rural areas.
He warned against normalising a climate where law-abiding citizens live under fear, noting that insecurity in rural and border communities must be treated with the same urgency as that of major cities.
The monarch also stressed the importance of structured community engagement, timely intelligence sharing, and rapid response mechanisms to prevent attacks before they occur. While acknowledging ongoing efforts by both federal and state authorities, he insisted that protection must be consistent and effective.
Declaring solidarity with the affected communities, the Alaafin urged residents to remain calm but vigilant, cooperate with lawful security agencies, and avoid actions that could undermine the rule of law.
As security concerns persist in parts of the country, both the Presidency and traditional institutions appear united in their call for decisive action — one promising victory at the national level, the other demanding immediate reinforcement on vulnerable frontlines.

Insecurity: Aiyedatiwa Meets Miyetti Allah, Other Fulani Leaders
Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Tuesday met with the leadership of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) over the spate of insecurity in the state.
Other Fulani elders from the three senatorial districts also attended the meeting.
Aiyedatiwa, during the meeting in his office, said the state government would not rest to ensure that the state was rid of criminal elements.
“According to some intelligence reports, the recent operations in Kogi and Kwara States to dislodge some criminal elements has made them think the state would be a safe haven, but they are wrong.
“This meeting is not being held for the first time.
You need to rid yourselves of bad eggs and also report any criminal elements you notice.“Anyone found sponsoring criminal activities, including kidnapping, in Ondo State will face the full weight of the law,” he said.
The governor, who expressed concern over the recent spate of kidnapping, killings and road blockades in some parts of the state, particularly Ilu-Abo and Uso communities, stressed that “security agencies were on top of the situation”.
He said security agencies had, so far, arrested 99 suspects who were currently making statements regarding various degrees of involvement in the crises across the state.
According to him, those genuinely doing the business of cattle rearing can’t be deprived because there are criminals that normally hide within the cows, we should now stop them from doing their business.
“You will be able to know if they are genuine or have rushed to some cattle breeders, using them as shields to gain entrance to another territory, because you are in that profession.
“You know yourselves and your people. Some of your people are also being attacked to take their cattle, that is why we have to work together. It is very, very important because it is the only way.
“As long as I’m in this seat, myself and other members of the government have resolved that anybody can live freely in any part of the country, including Ondo State.
“But the caveat is, when you are here, obey the law of the land. Do your business, go about your enterprise, your legitimate enterprise, without fear.
“That is what we have to provide for everyone, an enabling environment for everyone to live well, to be protected and to do their businesses. Let’s coexist.
“Now, we have been noticing kidnapping for ransom, which used to be very rampant. It was reduced before but recently, it’s coming up again.
“I begin to wonder, where is this coming from again? That is why we must not rest on our oars. We have to wake up and tackle it together, “he said.
Earlier, the Chairman of MACBAN in Ondo State, Alhaji Abubakar Mande, said the association would continue to cooperate with the government to expose criminals within their ranks in order to ensure a peaceful society.
Mande added that the association remained committed to providing intelligence and all necessary support to promote a safer and crime-free Ondo State.
“Not all Fulani living in the state are criminals. The peace of the state is our own peace too,” he said.
