The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti Corruption Commission urged the Federal Government not to scarp the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).Speaking at the International Ombuds Day 2024, in Kano on Thursday, the chairman of the commission, Muhyi Gado, said rather more anti-graft agencies were needed to combat corruption effectively.

He described the call to scrap the agency as unpatriotic and myopic”.
“When I came to the office in 2015 I met only 30 cases.
“But today we have 1300 cases out of which about 60 per cent have been duly prosecuted and 30 per cent are outstanding.“We are doing this job without collecting a single Kobo using Ombudsman”, he said.Muhyi saidlast week the agency recovered 30 million naira through mediation.
“This clearly tells you that the country needs this kind of agency at the state level to support EFCC and similar institutions.Mr Musa Auyo, Commissioner 1 of Jigawa State Anti Corruption Commission, praised Kano Commission for supporting the establishment of Jigawa Commission in February 2022.He said the commission had been swift in handling cases brought before it.
