Benue Launches 2025 Food, Non-food Distribution for IDPs

Benue State Government through the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) on Tuesday, launched the 2025 food and non-food distribution for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the state.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management and Benue-SEMA, James lorpuu, while launching the distribution at the SEMA headquarters in Makurdi, posited that government is poised to provide adequate security for Internally Displaced Persons Camps, IDPs across the State
He maintained that government remains steadfast in its commitment to providing relief and support to the thousands of families affected by armed conflict in the state.
, adding that over 200 security personnel’s drawn from conventional security operatives including Civil Defense and Police have been trained by International Organization for Migration (IOM) through the office of the Homeland Security and deployed to camps in the State.Iorpuu commence Governor Hyacinth Alia for restoring hope, dignity, and livelihoods to the internally displaced persons (IDPs) in our state, and described the launch of the Benue State Action Plan for a Durable Solution for IDPs in Benue State as one of the most commendable steps taken by the state Governor.

“The flag-off of the IDP farm project at Tyo-Mu, targeting six local government areas heavily affected by displacement, is a giant leap. He explained that the farm project is not only aimed at addressing food security challenges but also at equipping IDPs with the means to rebuild their lives through agricultural productivity.
Items distributed include 975 bags of rice, 890 bags of beans, 395 bags of garri, 3 050 cartons of Indomies, 195 gallons of red oil, 100 cartons of Maggi, 82 bags of salt and 100 bags of sugar.
They were distributed to Abagena, Anyiin in Logo LGA, Daudu 1 and Daudu 2, Ortese camp, Gbajimba camp 1 and 2 all in Guma LGA, Ichwa CAMP, Mega camp Baka camp at Mega camp, NEPA at Mega camp in Makurdi LGA, Agatu, Ugba, Refugee settlement at Kwande, Agagbe in Gwer West, Jato-Aka, Anyimba IDP who are living in host community, Mamã Abayol, School for Special Needs in Aliade, Children’s home in Gboko, Rehabilitation home in Spirit, school for Special Needs Vandeikya and the host community at the mega camp and old peoples’ home at Judges’ quarters.

The Adamawa State Health Supply Management Agency has introduced sweeping reforms in the state’s healthcare delivery system, ensuring an uninterrupted supply of quality medicines to health facilities across the state.The agency’s Executive Secretary, Dauda Deri disclosed that the new system allows the state to procure drugs directly from certified pharmaceutical manufacturers, cutting out middlemen and guaranteeing quality, safety and affordability.
The new system enables the state to receive supplies directly from manufacturers, ensuring that every batch of drugs can be traced and any problems swiftly addressed.This development is a significant step towards eliminating substandard medications and improving the overall quality of healthcare in the state.Deri emphasized that the centralization of drug procurement with reliable data has not only improved efficiency but also reduced costs, making medicines more affordable for both the poor and the general public. Governor Fintiri’s prioritization of healthcare has been instrumental to the agency’s success, and the state’s swift establishment of the Health Supply Management Agency has been recognized nationally.The agency’s recapitalization has also revitalized the pharmacy profession in the state, with pharmacists who previously left the state for better opportunities returning to Adamawa. The government has provided all necessary working tools, encouraging pharmacists to join the civil service.With newly built hospitals, upgraded facilities, and a steady supply of quality drugs, the Adamawa State Health Supply Management Agency is setting a new standard for healthcare delivery in the region. A US based Film Director, Taiwo Oduala has commended the unprecedented achievements and humanitarian services being rendered to the less privileged by philanthropists and corporate organisations.Oduala gave the commendation while speaking with newsmen on Monday in Lokoja.
The Nigerian born film director, who hosts the Afro Awards in Los Angeles, America, said life is all about service to God and humanity, no matter how low or highly placed in the society.
