Ademola Aremu told the gathering that June 12 is a Democracy Day that is supposed to mark liberation of Nigerians from the governments of the oppressor and slavery, but today the reverse is the case.
Aremu, who is also a University don from University of Ibadan lamented that President Tinubu s administration is killing Nigerians with bad policies making us to be poorer on daily bases.”Look at the security, people are being killed every day by Fulani herdman or you call them bandits, farmers were being killed, their wives raped at times killed. No food for us to eat. As a result of fuel subsidy removal, fuel pump price rose from N180 per liter to over N1000. This government is not making money available to run universities and other tertiary education well. Graduates today cannot secure employment.”The money this government is making through removal of the fuel subsidy is being given to the few political office holders. The governors are receiving billions of naira on a monthly basis, House representative members receiving a billion naira while their brothers in the Senate collecting two billion yearly for constituency allowance and Nigerians seriously dying of hunger.”We are telling Mr. President today that this cannot continue. You should stop playing politics with the lives of Nigerians and settle down for proper governance. Mr President should introduce policies that will take care of the needs and aspirations of Nigerians and stop robbing Peter to pay Paul.”Prof Aremu said from the human rights group they will continue to agitate and demand for the rights of Nigerians from this government.
