61 Bag First Class Degrees Out of 2,511 Graduands of FUL

Sixty-one Graduands will on Saturday be conferred with First Class Honours Degrees at the 6th and 7th Combined Convocation ceremony of the Federal University, Lokoja.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi who disclosed this at a Pre-convocation press briefing held at the permanent campus of the institution on Monday, said that a total of 2,511 graduands will be conferred with First degrees, 99 Master degrees and 128 Postgraduate Diploma
Professor Akinwumi also hinted that in an effort to meet the high demand for professional Programmes by citizens of Kogi state, Federal University, Lokoja has commenced the running of new courses in Medicine, Nursing and Engineering.
He said that College of Health Sciences has taken-off fully while maiden students’ admission exercise into Engineering and Nursing will take place in the 2023/2024 academic session.
According to the Vice Chancellor “the establishment of these new academic programmes is inline with my vision and agenda to run some professional courses that were not in existence in the Federal University, Lokoja but are of high demand by the citizenry of Kogi state
“Our desire to run professional courses is equally geared towards solving the problem of admission denial by citizens of Kogi state due to the competitive demand of these programmes”
Professor Akinwumi also hinted that the establishment of Programmes like Agriculture, Law, Pharmacy, Psychology and Medical Laboratory Sciences are in the pipeline.
He commended the Federal Government under the immediate past President Muhammadu Buhari for approval to convert the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja to Federal Teaching Hospital to be used as Teaching Hospital for the Medical Programmes
He stated that his administration made significant impact on the provision of basic infrastructure that facilitated effective teaching and learning in the University, ranging from construction of road networks, administrative and academic buildings to procurement of academic, health and educational facilities.

The new system enables the state to receive supplies directly from manufacturers, ensuring that every batch of drugs can be traced and any problems swiftly addressed.This development is a significant step towards eliminating substandard medications and improving the overall quality of healthcare in the state.Deri emphasized that the centralization of drug procurement with reliable data has not only improved efficiency but also reduced costs, making medicines more affordable for both the poor and the general public. Governor Fintiri’s prioritization of healthcare has been instrumental to the agency’s success, and the state’s swift establishment of the Health Supply Management Agency has been recognized nationally.The agency’s recapitalization has also revitalized the pharmacy profession in the state, with pharmacists who previously left the state for better opportunities returning to Adamawa. The government has provided all necessary working tools, encouraging pharmacists to join the civil service.With newly built hospitals, upgraded facilities, and a steady supply of quality drugs, the Adamawa State Health Supply Management Agency is setting a new standard for healthcare delivery in the region. A US based Film Director, Taiwo Oduala has commended the unprecedented achievements and humanitarian services being rendered to the less privileged by philanthropists and corporate organisations.Oduala gave the commendation while speaking with newsmen on Monday in Lokoja.
The Nigerian born film director, who hosts the Afro Awards in Los Angeles, America, said life is all about service to God and humanity, no matter how low or highly placed in the society.
