Asake Deserves Respect Same Way Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido Are Respected – Presenter, Fiona Frimpong Says

Fiona Frimpong, the presenter of the Afrobeats Unfiltered show, has talked about Asake.
She expressed her unhappiness with fans who arrived late to the Asake concert at the O2 arena on Sunday.
She said this on Wednesday in an episode of the ‘Afrobeats Unfiltered show’ shared via her X (formerly Twitter) handle saying, “I have heard that apparently the rules for the O2 arena are, they cannot let an artist go on stage or start a show until 80% of ticket holders are actually inside”
Speaking to fans who were loitering outside the venue, she said: “Now we talk about the fans, the people that paid money to go and see the concert.
Why are you not inside?“They told you that the man was coming in at 8:30 you are gagging and coming in late knowing that the show is probably going to finish at 11:00.
People are not in the venue until about 10:30, that is insane, that is a good two hours it took people to come in but when Wizkid is performing, when Burna Boy is performing, when Davido is performing, everybody is there promptly.“It is like same level of respect is not really shown for Asake, this is his big moment you know especially if he is coming to redeeem himself after what happened at Brixton.”

Mike Abdul Thrills Fans With New Single, ‘Fuji Rush’

Nigerian gospel artiste, Mike Abdul, has released a new single titled ‘Fuji Rush’, a creative fusion of traditional Fuji sounds with contemporary gospel themes and pop influences.
Abdul disclosed this in a statement on Friday in Lagos.
According to him, the song marks another creative milestone in his two-decade-long music career.
Abdul, who was also a former member of Midnight Crew, a gospel music group, is known for his energetic performances and genre-blending compositions.
He described the project as gospel music “wearing agbada”, a metaphor for its cultural flair and broad appeal.
“The single departs from the purely traditional format of Fuji while retaining its core cultural elements, with a rich blend of heavy percussion, string and horn progression.
“It’s Fuji at its core but with elements of pop and other genres woven in.
“What’s interesting is how gospel is now pushing the boundaries of Fuji, which traditionally wasn’t seen as gospel-friendly.
“That shift is exciting. Rap has done it. Afrobeat has done it. Fuji Rush is doing it,” he said.
Abdul said the song carried a deeper message aimed at connecting with the streets and reshaping how gospel music is perceived among younger, culturally rooted audiences.
Abdul, who is also the Founder of Spaghetti Records, pledged his commitment to producing music that resonates culturally with diverse audiences without losing the message of the gospel of Jesus.
“This isn’t about keeping gospel in a corner, it’s about going into the culture, speaking the language of the streets and flipping the script so they can be saved.
“That’s the energy Fuji Rush is bringing to the narrative,” he said. (NAN)
