Benue Workers Welfare Alia’s Top Priority – Spokesperson
Gov. Hyacinth Alia has prioritised the welfare of Benue workers in order to have a motivated civil service to entrench good governance in the state.
Sir Tersoo Kula, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, said this in a statement made available to newsmen on Thursday in Makurdi.
Kula stated that the governor demonstrated his love for workers by paying them salaries and other claims as and when due.
According to the spokesperson, Alia clearly stood out as a beacon of change following the approval of the N75, 000 minimum wage for workers and agreement to clear the backlog of salary arrears.
He stated that the governor committed himself to the welfare of the people, signalling a new era for governance in the state.
“Workers in Benue now receive their monthly welfare packages before the 25th of each month, a significant upgrade that establishes financial stability for many families.
“Pensioners are no longer neglected; they receive their full retirement benefits within three months of leaving active service.
“This remarkable turnaround is not just unrivalled; it is life-changing. Many citizens are expressing their disbelief at such rapid progress.
“The minimum wage set to take effect in November 2024 is not just a number; it portrays total respect for labour and acknowledgement of the hard work that impacts our economy positively,” he added.
Kula pointed out that by restoring the hitherto deprived dignity of the workers and pensioners in the Food Basket state, Alia is sending a strong message that workers deserve a fair reward for their efforts. (NAN)
