Enugu residents have expressed their disappointment over the declaration of APC presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the President elect in the just concluded 2023 general election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

A resident in Enugu and a leader of Civil Liberty Organization, Comrade Kindness Jonah who spoke to our correspondent said that declaring Tinubu as President  elect in Nigeria is anti democratic.

“It is inimical to order, it is not judicial. It is averse to United Nations code on civility and conduct of elections worldwide.

He stated that “The International organization that monitored the election said it was flaunts with clause and election irregularities.

Instead of Using the results from the BIVAS, they were using manual against what was announced to Nigerians by INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu. Election was irregularities defined,” he said. He called on INEC to cancel the election and save Nigerians from decadence”

Another resident, a retired headmaster, Gregory Ude, who spoke to our correspondent said that Tinubu should not be declared as the president elect for the 2023 presidential election, because INEC did not follow the rules and regulations of the election.

According to him “Instead of uploading the result through BIVAS, they were using manual. They did not upload election as it is supposed to be, it was falsified. They were supposed to conduct re run election. So declaring Tinubu or anybody elected is false.

The Former Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists Enugu State, Comrade Rex Arum said that if the collective wishes of the people were strictly adhered to, based on the provision of electoral act that the true winner would have emerged, suggesting that Tinubu is not the true winner of the election.

“Infact international communities like France, United State, Russia that  monitored the election reported negatively about the election”. He advised aggrieved Nigerian Citizens to toe the path of conflict resolution.

Arum urged the Nigerian youths to toe the path of peace, advising them to be calm and wait for whoever that is aggrieved to go to court..”We believe that the court is the hope for common man”. He urged the court to give Nigerians what they are yearning for; otherwise there will be a problem.
