Ododo Unveils Metropolitan Quick Response Squad to Tackle Security Challenges

Governor of Kogi State Ahmed Ododo has launched a security initiative aimed at taming the upsurge of emerging criminal activities in Lokoja, the state capital and other major towns in the state.

According to the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, the operation code named Metropolitan Quick Response is in partnership with the Rapid Response Squad of the Nigeria Police and the joint task force of security agencies in the state.

At the flag off of the initiative at the government house in Lokoja, Governor Ododo restated the commitment of his administration to deal decisively with criminals in the state.

The Governor noted that the safety and security of lives and property of the people of Kogi state remains a top priority for the administration, stressing that nothing will be spared to ensure that the people of the state sleep with their two eyes closed.

“Today, we are flagging off the Metropolitan Quick Response (MQR) to advance our efforts in the safety and security of lives and property in Lokoja metropolis and beyond.

“The flag off of the Metropolitan Quick Response operation is part of the evolving security measures to ensure we have a safe environment and to build on the solid foundation of our security architecture in the state.

“As a government, we are resolute in our determination to flush out criminal elements in every nook and cranny of Kogi State.

“Nothing will be spared to guarantee safety and security in every inch of the state and Kogi state will remain unsafe for criminal elements wherever they may be,” Ododo assured.

The governor commended the gallantry and dedication of all security agencies in the state for their sacrifices in the line of duty, adding that the state government will continue to appreciate their efforts in keeping the state safe.

Ododo called on citizens of the state to be proactive and remain vigilant and to provide credible and timely information to security agencies in the state.

The governor promised to continue to prioritize technological enablers to enhance capabilities in intelligence gathering to combat emerging security threats in the state.

Eid-el-Kabir: CAN Felicitates with Muslims, Condoles with Niger State Over Mokwa Floods

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has extended warm greetings to all Muslim brothers and sisters as they celebrate Eid-el-Kabir 2025.This was contained in a statement.issues by CAN signed by Archbishop Daniel Okoh, President, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), in Abuja.

He said, “This special festival, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, reminds us of the faith and obedience shown by Abraham (Prophet Ibrahim).
It teaches us about sacrifice, love, and kindness values shared by Christians and Muslims alike. “Eid-el-Kabir is a time to come together with family and friends, to share meals, and to care for one another. It is also a time to spread joy and build unity in our communities.
As Nigerians, we can all use this moment to show peace and respect, no matter our faith”.Meanwhile, CAN, has urged all churches and christians to support all those in need in Mokwa, Nigee state, after flooding claimed over 100 lives.He said CAN is ready to help all those in need.”While we celebrate, we also remember those going through hard times. In Mokwa, Niger State, many families have suffered due to serious flooding. Lives have been lost, homes destroyed, and many people are in need. We send our prayers to everyone affected and ask God to give them strength and comfort.”CAN is ready to help. We ask churches and Christians to support those in need; by giving food, clothes, money, or offering prayers and kind words. We will also work with the government and other groups to make sure help reaches those who need it.”Even when disasters strike, the spirit of Nigerians stays strong. We thank the Niger State government, emergency workers, and volunteers who are helping. CAN promises to play its part in bringing hope and relief”, he urged.He noted, “This season of sacrifice reminds us to care for others. Let us share what we have, visit those in need, and pray for peace in our country. Small acts of kindness can make a big difference.”Eid-el-Kabir also gives us a chance to grow closer to our Muslim neighbours. Nigeria is special because of its many cultures and religions. When we celebrate together, we show that unity is stronger than division.”To all our Muslim friends, we wish you a joyful and blessed Eid-el-Kabir. May your prayers be accepted and your homes filled with peace and happiness. Eid-el-Kabir: Oyo Political Leaders Unite, Shun Differences at Eid Ground

Political leaders across party lines in Oyo State on Friday came together to observe the Eid-el-Kabir prayers in an atmosphere of unity and mutual respect, setting aside their political differences.The leaders, including top members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), converged at the Agodi Eid ground in Ibadan.

The political leaders exchanged greetings and prayed alongside Muslim faithful for peace and religious harmony.
Notable among them were the Oyo State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Adebayo Lawal, Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and former Senate Leader, Sen. Teslim Folarin.Also present were Oyo State’s former deputy governors, Hazeem Gbolarumi and Amb.
Taofeek Arapaja, including Sen. Kola Balogun, Abass Adigun and Chief Saheed Oladele.Others are Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle, Alhaji Mojeed Olaoya, Chief Akinade Fijabi, Hon. Akeem Ige, Dr Nureni Adeniran and Chief Shina Alabi.The Otun-Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, led traditional rulers, Ibadan traditional council members and the Mogajis to the praying ground.Meanwhile, in his admonition, the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheikh AbdulGaniy Abubakry, emphasised the importance of unity, tolerance, and patience as the key virtues necessary for national development.He urged Nigerians to uphold these values in their daily interactions, regardless of political, religious or ethnic differences.Abubakry prayed for continued peace and prosperity in Nigeria, urging everyone to play their part in fostering unity and nation-building.He reminded the congregation that there was no other place to call their own aside from Nigeria, hence, unity must prevail. Verification App set to Boost Trust in Recruitment, other Processes

The digital identity verification landscape in Nigeria has received a boost with the official launch of Identigo, a technology-driven verification application.The Executive Director of Identigo, Ms Olabusayo Soetan, gave the assurance in a statement in Lagos on Friday.Soetan said that the app was aimed at rebuilding trust, strengthening security, and aiding decision-making in recruitment and other sensitive processes.

She said that Identigo was unveiled at Lekki, Lagos, in the presence of stakeholders from the public and private sectors.
Soetan said that the platform was developed to address the increasing need for preventive security, particularly in employment and document validation. “This is not just a product launch; it is a mission to restore confidence in our systems.
“Identigo is designed to deliver reliable background checks that will help individuals, organisations and government agencies to verify the authenticity of identities, certificates, land documents and more. “Identigo’s operations prioritise preventive security over reactive measures, enabling clients to access credible information to guard against fraud, misjudgments and other risks,” she said.
