Sen. Natasha Arrives in Court As Judge Hears Akpabio’s Contempt Claims

Sen. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, on Tuesday, arrived at the Federal High Court in Abuja ahead of the hearing of the claim by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, that the lawmaker recently flouted the court order.
Justice Binta Nyako had, on Monday, fixed today for the hearing of the contempt claim by the senate president against Akpoti-Uduaghan.
Justice Nyako also said she would hear the earlier contempt charge filed by Natasha against Akpabio, the Senate and others over allegations of disobedience to earlier court order.

Nigerian Children Have Glorious Future Ahead, says Uzodimma

Gov. Hope Uzodimma of Imo has reaffirmed the commitment of the state to ensure a brighter future for Imo children, saying the groundwork for protecting their future had already been established.
Uzodimma stated this in a message he personally signed to commemorate the 2025 Children’s Day on Monday in Owerri.
The governor assured the children that President Bola Tinubu and the state governors were committed to building a progressive future and lasting development filled with opportunities.
Uzodimma said, “the groundwork being laid for today’s children would ensure that one day Nigerian children would inherit a prosperous and peaceful nation.”
The governor urged the children never to lose hope or give in to despair, despite the tough economic times facing the world and the country in particular.
He said that the economic reforms being carried out by the current administration would strengthen Nigeria’s growth, especially in building roads, schools, hospitals and other vital infrastructure.
He said that in Imo, his administration had begun to revitalise the health and education sectors, which according to him are the two pillars that essentially help children grow, learn and thrive.
Uzodimma, urged Nigerian children to believe in their country, stay in school and acquire useful skills to build a better future through hard work.
He further, urged them to stay away from bad influences such as cultism, theft and other harmful behaviours capable of ruining their future.

Gov. Monday Okpebholo of Edo has urged parents and guardians to discourage their children from joining cult groups and engaging in harmful activities.
Okpebholo gave the charge in his Children’s Day message on Tuesday in Benin, reaffirmed his administration commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all children across Edo and Nigeria.
He pledged to provide quality education and create an enabling environment for children in the state to thrive, develop fully, and achieve their potential in life.
The governor described ”Children’s Day” as a day to celebrate youth, their vibrant spirit, innocence, and immense potential as the future leaders of the society.
”Our children are our most precious assets. Their dreams shape Edo’s future. We must protect them, support them, and nurture their unique gifts,” he said.
He emphasised his administration’s full dedication to investing in children development, defending their rights, and providing platforms for discovering and honing their talents.
He highlighted various initiatives geared towards improving children’s lives, especially government investments aimed at enhancing educational quality and access across the state’s school system.
Okpebholo reiterated his administration’s efforts to upgrade school facilities, declared a state of emergency in public schools, and continued major reconstruction projects across educational institutions statewide.
He stressed the importance of shielding children from abuse and exploitation, reaffirming legal frameworks that protect their rights, and guarantee education for all.
He added that his administration was working to creating empowering opportunities for youths while tackling barriers like cultism, violence, and other societal threats to their development.
”Every child, regardless of background, deserves a fair opportunity to succeed,” he stressed.
He called on parents, teachers, and community stakeholders to guide children wisely, instill sound values, and encourage positive ambitions and strong moral character.
