From Dan Amasingha, Minna

Concerned Shiroro Youths of Niger State has attributed the killing of over 18 persons in Galadima kogo to the sudden withdrawal of security personnel from Galadima Kogo to the success of the attack by bandits and hold the State government responsible for the deaths and carnage.

In  a strong worded statement, signed by Sani Abubakar Koki  co-convener and Barrister  Bello Ibrahim they condemned in strongest terms the outright withdrawal of security personnel from Galadima Kogo, Shiroro local government area, Niger State and their deployment to Kontagora.

According to them, “This decision taken by government notwithstanding, the accompanying reason is reckless and insensitive in its entirety, especially to the plights of innocent and unarmed law abiding citizens already ravaged by incessant insecurity.

“Considering how porous, prone to insecurity and vulnerable to deadly attacks by the rampaging hydra-headed, venomous murderous and heartless terrorists,  at Galadima Kogo, one can easily conclude that, withdrawal of security personnel at this material time is a deliberate attempt to further jeopardize people’s lives and put them on the firing line”.

According to them, “The way government of the day is treating security issues with crass levity, complete negligence and carelessness and kid gloves speak volumes on our current woes.

“The end to this monster is still a super story as permanent, lasting and sustainable solution is not yet in sight.

“Before yesterday’s broad daylight attack,  at Galadima Kogo was relatively peaceful and secured due to the presence of security personnel stationed in the town. Yesterday’s tragedy that recorded wanton killings among other casualties could have been avoided if those security personnel had not been withdrawn previously”

They noted that from preliminary findings indicate that, about twelve people were gruesomely massacred, many more were injured by gunshots and yet to be ascertained numbers of people are still missing.

Comrade Koki explained that in view of the calamity at hand, the “Concerned Shiroro Youths hereby call with the loudest voice on the authorities concerned to restore the withdrawn security personnel and also deploy additional security personnel to other areas prone to insecurity with immediate effect or risk our reactions.

“Enough is enough as we can no longer fold our arms watching while our lives are being wasted senselessly by criminal elements. Forewarned is forearmed as a stitch in time saves nine”

Abdulkadir’s ram was reportedly stolen during a downpour in the area on the eve of the Ed-el-Kabir.

An Imam in the community, Haruna Yaqub, disclosed this during the sermon, shortly after the two Raka’at prayers.

Yaqub, who condemned the incident, described it as “insensitive”.

He added that the act showed that people lack fear for God.

The Imam said, “The Ram of our Chief Imam, which he purposely brought to sacrifice, has been stolen in the night.

We are really shocked by the incident. We were surprised to hear this story. This means that people are not God-fearing.

He stressed that everyone will account for their actions on earth and hereafter.
