Niger Delta ex-agitators have hailed President Bola Tinubu for ignoring campaigns of calumny sponsored by some enemies of the region to derail the vision of the Managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr Samuel Ogbuku. The pioneer Secretary, First Phase Ex-Agitators, Nature Dumale Kieghe, praised Tinubu for choosing to support Ogbuku’s vision, which he said was in line with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda for the region.

Kieghe, who is also the immediate past Chairman of the Presidential Amnesty Communication Committee said Ogbuku’s administration initiated and executed the Light-Up Niger Delta Project designed to renew the hope of rural dwellers including aged mothers, fathers and grandparents.
He said Ogbuku was also renewing the hope of the youths in the region through massive youth empowerment programmes including its newly launched Youth Internship Scheme in which 10,000 youths were being paid N50,000 monthly stipends.Kieghe further observed that under Ogbuku the NDDC had approached the infrastructural needs of the region with dexterity speeding up the completion and inauguration of many life-changing projects such as the Ogbia-Nembe Road, electricity, school, health projects as well as skill acquisition centers across the region. He said the region was also happy that Ogbuku was connecting many displaced communities by various road infrastructures in the spirit of the Renewed Hope Agenda describing the determination of Ogbuku and the board to complete the Bonny Ring Road and bridges as legendary. He said Ogbuku had also renewed the hope of NDDC workers and other stakeholders of the commission by providing befitting and comfortable accomodations and offices in many member states.Kieghe said: “As critical stakeholders, we want to appreciate Mr President for not listening to the enemies of the Niger Delta region, who wanted to stop the vision of our leader and brother, Dr. Sam Ogbuku, the CEO of NDDC.”Today we have proved those Niger Delta people, who felt that he had no plan for the region wrong. We have proved those who felt that Ogbuku was not capable of delivering the vision of NDDC to the Niger Delta people wrong.”Just take Ogbuku’s project to light up the Niger Delta for example. Nearly every community in the Niger Delta region today has a solar light in their area and this initiative has brought so much joy to the communities.”This is one project in the history of NDDC that has addressed the needs of our aged mothers, brothers and sisters in the rural areas that don’t even know where the NDDC office is located. This needs assessment has provided light for them and today they identify with what the NDDC is doing in the region.”Mr. President, we thank you for listening to us and not allowing anybody to convince you to stop the vision of Ogbuku. Through him we have skill acquisition programmes. One of them, the Youth Internship Scheme, is paying stipends to 10,000 youths monthly.Through Ogbuku’s vision, many infrastructural projects such as the Ogbia-Nembe Road, school, health,.skill acquisition centre projects among others have been completed and inaugurated. We have seen the MD inaugurating liaison offices. In the history of the Niger Delta several states have not had offices they could go to and lodge their complaints.Kieghe called on all stakeholders of the Niger Delta to keep supporting Ogbuku and the board to enable them to deliver more credible and people-oriented projects. While passing a vote of confidence in Ogbuku and the board, Kieghe warned enemies of the Niger delta to desist from trying to bring Ogbuku down.

One Year into OPay’s N1.2 billion 10-year Scholarship Initiative, What’s Next?

Getting into a tertiary institution is only half the journey. Staying in school, paying fees on time, and having the right support system can be the bigger challenge. Over the past year,

OPay has stepped into that gap, not just as a fintech company, but as a partner in the ambition and aspirations of thousands of students.

Through its long-term scholarship initiative, OPay has committed N1.

2 billion over 10 years to support outstanding and indigent students across more than 20 partner tertiary institutions nationwide.
What began as tuition support has grown into something more profound, a structured investment in young people who have the capacity but need financial backing to stay focused on their studies.

In campuses from Ife to Zaria and Calabar, OPay scholarship beneficiaries have shared stories of relief and renewed confidence. For many, the scholarship meant their parents no longer had to borrow money for school fees. For others, it meant more time in the library and less time worrying about part-time work. In a country where education remains one of the strongest ladders to upward mobility, this kind of support goes beyond money; it restores dignity and hope.

But OPay’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) journey is not stopping at the scholarship initiative.

Building on the strong foundation already laid, OPay is launching OPay Scholars, a bold expansion that moves from financial support to full career development. The 2026 edition will introduce OPay Futures and a National Innovation Challenge, where students can propose practical solutions to real-world problems. It will also feature a focused webinar session and a bootcamp led by industry experts, providing scholars with direct access to knowledge in technology, entrepreneurship, and career growth.

Most notably, the 2026 edition will create a structured career development pathway, culminating in a grand finale of OPay’s second annual Empowering Futures Conference.

This platform will not only celebrate academic excellence but also spotlight creativity, leadership, and innovation among Nigerian students.

At a time when many young Nigerians are asking, “What next after school?”, OPay is helping to answer that question. By combining financial aid with mentorship, exposure and opportunities for innovation, the company is positioning education as both a safety net and a springboard.

OPay’s impact over the past year proves one thing clearly: when businesses invest consistently in people, communities grow stronger. And in 2026, OPay Scholars is set to support ambitions and actively shape the future, one student, one idea, and one opportunity at a time.

The President of Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, received a hero’s welcome in Gode, Ethiopia, on a visit tied to his group’s fertiliser plant project in the country.

He was hosted by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, and both men visited the construction site of the proposed facility on Sunday.

Ethiopia signed a shareholders’ agreement with Dangote Group in August last year for the establishment of a urea plant with an annual production capacity of three million metric tonnes.

Construction was officially launched in October 2025. The joint venture is structured with Dangote holding 60 per cent and Ethiopian Investment Holdings, 40 per cent.

Dangote announced an increase in the project’s total investment from $2.

5 billion to over $4 billion.

The Dangote Group statement read, “Dangote announced an increase in investment from $2.5 billion to over $4 billion, reflecting expanded scope, including a 110km pipeline, a 120MW power plant, a polypropylene packaging facility, and a two-million-tonne NPK blending plant.”

Abiy, who accompanied Dangote on the site visit, described the project as central to Ethiopia’s development agenda.

The prime minister said in a statement, “This initiative represents far more than infrastructure. It is a strategic investment in Ethiopia’s agricultural transformation, food security, industrial growth, and economic self-reliance.”

He said the plant would deliver broad national benefits upon completion.

“Once completed, the fertiliser plant will play a vital role in strengthening local production capacity, reducing dependence on imports, supporting millions of farmers, and creating new opportunities for jobs and investment,” he said.

Abiy said he was encouraged by what he observed on the ground.

“This morning, together with Aliko Dangote, I visited the project site in Gode to assess the progress achieved so far. I am encouraged by the steady momentum across the project area.

“Construction activities are advancing as planned across multiple sections of the site, reflecting the strong commitment and collaboration driving this important national project forward,” he stated.

The Dangote Group statement added, “The project reinforces Dangote Group’s commitment to industrial development across Africa.”
