From Jude Dangwam, Jos

No fewer than 19 Governors in Nigeria elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress(APC) have so far converged on Jos, the Plateau State capital for a review meeting, and to chart a roadmap on how to better the lives of the citizens in the country in the next four years.

The Secretary to the Government of Plateau State, Prof.

Danladi Atu, disclosed this at weekend during a press conference held at the new Government House, Little Rayfield in Jos.

He said the aim of the Progressive Review meeting was to sharpen their focus and pick lessons where necessary for the good of Nigerians.

Atu, who stressed that the state was ever ready to receive and take care of all the visitors, explained that the choice of Plateau State for the Review Meeting was based on the peace efforts of Governor Simon Lalong over the years, which has so far yielded positive results.

“The essence of this visit or meeting is to sharpen our focus and we are going to pick lessons to learn as social beings. Whenever you have a peer review, you add value to you focus which are the physical elements of this conference.

“Even the federal government will equally learn and benefits from us too, we are going to benefit from this as a state by marketing our potentials for the economic and social growth of our dear state and her citizenry.

“We are shifting from the conventional surviniers conferences. This time around, surviniers we are going to give our visitors are our made in Plateau products. We have package our asha (hungry rice), our zobo tea, our potatoes, or greens (vegetables), our exotic fruits that cannot be found anyway except here on the Plateau as a take home to all the participants.

“You will recall that at the just concluded trade fair, so many of these were exhibited and by doing this, we are promoting our local products telling the world of what we have. We believed that this will also strengthen the micro small and medium scale enterprises as well as our farmers getting value for their hard work,” Atu stated.

Among the 19 Governors expected at the third edition of the Progressive Governors Review Meeting are the newly elected Governor of Bayelsa state, David Lyon and his counterpart, Yahaya Bello of Kogi State.

Makinde made this known to reporters at Fashola Farm in Ibadan on Saturday after the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) retreat.

Makinde emphasised that nobody could push his political agenda and that he would announce his intentions explicitly.

He recalled his 2019 governorship election where he was considered an outsider without political experience, but the people of Oyo State gave him a chance.
