Army Destroys Bandits Camps, Recover Ammunition in Taraba

The troops of 6 Brigade, Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have destroyed several bandits camps and recovered ammunition in Taraba.This is contained in a statement on Sunday in Jalingo signed by Capt. Olubodunde Oni, Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations.It said the successes were recorded in a series of clearance operations under Commander of the Brigade, Brig.

Kingsley Uwa, across multiple bandits hideouts in Taraba.“The operation code named OP GOLDEN PEACE commenced after extensive confidence building patrols, clearance missions, and stakeholder engagements, which proved effective in the northern part of the state.“The latest phase of the operation began on 28 November 2024 in Takum Local Government Area (LGA), focusing on known bandit and terrorist hideouts around Lijam High Ground.
”The statement indicated that during the operations, several bandit camps were destroyed, and troops recovered 27 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, one AK 47 Magazine, one handheld Baofeng radio and 2 motorcycles.“To further solidify the safety of residents, troops projected force into the Akume and Ananum areas of Donga LGA on 30 November 2024, reinforcing the Brigade’s commitment to securing lives and property throughout Taraba State.”The statement quoted the Commander of the 6 Brigade who commended the troops, urging them to remain vigilant.“Together, we will ensure peace and security across Taraba State and beyond.“This is our determined effort to ensure a safe and secure environment for the ongoing farm harvest season and the forthcoming yuletide and to ensure that the state does not become a safe haven for criminals,” the commander is quoted as saying.(NAN)

Police Bust Counterfeit Herbicide Factory, Arrest 4 in Bauchi

 The Police Command in Bauchi State says it has apprehended four individuals involved in the production of counterfeit herbicides in Inkil, a suburb of Bauchi metropolis.

The Command’s Spokesman, CSP Ahmed Wakil, made this known to newsmen on Sunday in Bauchi.

He said that the operation, based on credible intelligence, was conducted on May 3, around 1:30 p.

m.
by detectives from the Command’s Monitoring Unit.

“The suspects were caught in the act at a residential property in the Unguwan Liman area, where authorities believed the illicit activity had been ongoing,” he said.

Wakil said the operation led to the seizure of a significant cache of counterfeit materials and equipment, including 26 cartons labeled “Force Up, an empty carton of “Gobora”.

Others are two drums filled with suspicious liquid, 100 empty one-litre “Force Up” containers and sealing tapes, scissors, glue, leather materials, charcoal, and welding tools.

“During interrogation, the suspects implicated a 36-year-old resident of Fadaman Mada, as the ringleader behind the illegal operation.

“He was swiftly tracked and apprehended,” Wakil said

He said that the suspects are in custody as investigations continue to uncover the extent of the counterfeit production and dismantle the network responsible.

Wakil reassured members of the public of the command’s commitment to eradicating criminal enterprises that threaten public safety and consumer trust

Police Detain 3 Officers for Alleged Murder of Suspect in Kebbi

The Police Command in Kebbi State has detained three police officers for alleged murder of an arrested suspect in connection with stealing.

The Spokesperson of the Command, CSP Nafi’u Abubakar, made this known in a statement issued in Birnin Kebbi on Saturday.

“On April 15, based on a complaint of stolen rims of trailer truck reported at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Jega, one Abubakar Auwal was arrested in connection with the case.

“On April 16, at about 6:a.

m  while the investigation was ongoing, the suspect collapsed in detention.

“He was rushed to the general hospital, Jega, for treatment, but died on the same date at about 10:p.

m,” he said.

Abubakar added that based on the development, the Commissioner of Police, Bello Sani directed the case to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a discreet investigation.

He said three officers were found culpable and are currently detained at the SCID for further investigation, while the Divisional Police Officer in the area has been queried and transferred with immediate effect.

Abubakar reiterated the force’s unwavering commitment to upholding the highest standards of ethics and professionalism in discharging its duties.

“The wrong actions of few officers do not reflect the values of the Nigeria Police Force, prompt and disciplinary measures are always taken against erring officers to ensure accountability and justice.

“The Nigeria Police Force remains dedicated to maintaining discipline, protecting the integrity of its operations and fostering the trust and confidence of the people it serves,” the spokesman said.

Nigerian Army Adopts New Techniques, Procedures To End Terrorism

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede has said that the Nigerian Army has introduced new techniques and procedures to defeat the natuon’s adversaries and end terrorism.

He said this during a fire power demonstration exercise of the 2025 Combat Arms Training Week (CAT), on Wednesday in Bauchi.

Henry Wesley, Commander Ordnance Corps, Oluyede said the Federal Government had procured equipment and weapons aimed to tacklie insurgency and terrorism in the country.

He said that President Bola Tinubu and the Nigerian Army were working to ensure that positive changes were and reflected in the field.

“This particular event is very important because we have discussed strategies, operations and tactics and at the end, it is at the tip of the spear that all these will be reflected.

“It was very important that all the participants are brought here to come and see the capabilities which we are using to execute the various operations that we have, ” he said.

Oluyede said the enemies would feel the heat at the end of the day, adding that, “the government has bought a lot of equipment and weapons. Some are already in the field, some are still coming.”

According to Oluyede, the fire power demonstration is important as it acquaints the participants with latest capabilities the army deployed for various operations.

Maj.-Gen. Obinna Ajunwa, the Commander, Nigerian Army Armoured Corps, said the week long event provided platform to deliberate on pertinent issues affecting combat arms operations.

He commended the officers and men present, especially the retired senior officers, who attended the fire power demonstration exercise.
