President Muhammadu Buhari has nominated Dr Kingsley Isitua Obiora as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN)
Obiora, an Economist is currently an Alternate Executive Director at the Headquarters of the International Monetary Fund(IMF), Washington DC, USA.
In a statement in Abuja on Thursday, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Femi Adesina said Obiora’s name has already been forwarded to the Senate for confirmation
“In a letter to President of the Senate, Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, President Buhari said the nomination was in accordance with the provision of Section 8(1) (2) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (Establishment) Act 2007,” the statement said.
Upon confirmation by the Senate, Obiora will replace Dr Joseph Nnanna, who is bid to retire from the Apex bank on February 2, 2020.
Dr Obiora holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Statistics from the University of Benin, a Masters in Economics and Doctorate in Monetary and International Economics, both from the University of Ibadan.
