Covid-19 : NIS Suspends Processing of Passport

he Comptroller General of Immigration Service, Muhammad Babandede, has directed for the temporary suspension of processing of passport and Migrant e-Registration effective March 23 – April 23, 2020.

In a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer, DCI Sunday James on Monday to newsmen in Abuja, NIS stated that the action was in line with Government’s directives on Restrictions on international flight. 

The statement also reiterated that the Service will take advantage of this period to process all pending passport cases and the public will be informed when they would be ready for collection.

The Controller – General, while urging the public to  ensure social distance to prevent further spread of the virus said the Service regrets any inconvenience caused the general public within this period.
