FAAC: FG, States, LGs Share N1.578trn for March

The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC), on Monday, shared N1.578 trillion among the Febderal Government, states and the Local Government Councils (LGCs) for the month of March.A communiqué issued by Bawa Mokwa, the Director, Press and Public Relations, Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF), said the revenue was shared at the April meeting of FAAC in Abuja.
The communiqué said that the total revenue of N1. 578 trillion comprised statutory revenue of N931.325 billion, Value Added Tax (VAT) revenue of N593.750 billion, and Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL) revenue of N24.971 billion.“It also comprised Exchange Difference revenue of N28.711 billion,” it said.It said that total gross revenue of N2.411 trillion was available in the month of March.“Total deduction for cost of collection was N85.376 billion, while total transfers, interventions and refunds was N747.180 billion.“Gross statutory revenue of N1.718 trillion was received for the month of March 2025. This was higher than the sum of N1.653 trillion received in February 2025 by N65.422 billion.“Gross revenue of N637.618 billion was available from VAT. This was lower than the N654.456 billion available in February by N16.838 billion,” it said.The communiqué said that from the total revenue of N1.578 trillion, the Federal Government received N528.696 billion and the State Governments received N530.448 billion.It said that the LGCs received total sum of N387.002 billion, and a total sum of N132.611 billion (13 per cent of mineral revenue) was shared to the benefiting states as derivation revenue.“On the N931.325 billion statutory revenue, the Federal Government received N422.485 billion and the State Governments received N214.290 billion.“The LGCs received N165.209 billion, and the sum of N129.341 billion (13 per cent of mineral revenue) was shared to the benefiting States as derivation revenue.“From the N593.750 billion VAT revenue, the Federal Government received N89.063 billion, the State Governments received N296.875 billion and the LGCs received N207.813 billion,” it said.It said that total sum of N3.746 billion was received by the Federal Government from the N24.971 billion EMTL, while he State Governments received N12.485 billion and the LGCs received N8.740 billion.According to the communiqué, Petroleum Profit Tax (PPT) and Companies Income Tax (CIT) increased considerably while Oil and Gas royalty, EMTL, VAT, Excise Duty, Import Duty and CET Levies recorded decreases. 2 policemen injured in fight against armed robbers in Kano

Two Policemen, AbdullahiIbrahim and Yahaya Saidu, have sustained injuries during a fierce fight with a gang of armed robbers in Kano.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, in Kano, yesterday.
“The Kano State Police Command responded to a distress call on April 22, 2025, at about 1pm regarding an armed robbery syndicate led by a wanted notorious suspect, Halifa Baba-Beru of Gwammaja Quarters, Dala LGA.
“The gang was reportedly wielding dangerous weapons and attacking innocent people at Gwammaja Quarters in Dala LGA, Kano.
“Upon arrival, the police team was attacked by the hoodlums, leading to a fierce fight.
Two officers, Abdullahi Ibrahim and Yahaya Saidu, sustained injuries, ” Kiyawa said.He said that the principal suspect, Baba-Beru, also sustained serious injuries, adding that all the injured parties were rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano.
According to Kiyawa, the suspect died at the hospital while receiving treatment, just as the officers were treated and discharged.
He said that the command had launched an investigation into the incident and had intensified efforts to arrest the fleeing suspect’s accomplices.
Kiyawa said, “We assure the public that we will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that justice is served.
“The command commends the bravery and dedication of the officers involved in the operation.
“We remain committed to protecting lives and property in Kano State and urge the citizens to continue supporting our efforts by providing valuable information and intelligence.
“The command appeals to the public to report any suspicious activities or information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect’s accomplices.” ( NAN)

FG Releases ₦50bn to University Unions

The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa, ha announced the release of ₦50 billion by the Federal Government to the academic and non-academic staff unions of federal universities for the settlement of earned allowances as promised by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
This landmark development stands as yet another testament to President Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to fundamentally transform Nigeria’s education sector.
According to a statement by Director of Press and Public Relations, Mrs Folashade Boriowo on Wednesday, the move reflects the administration’s bold resolve to transition the nation from a resource-based to a knowledge-based economy through strategic investments in education, infrastructure, and human capital.
The statement quoted the minister as saying Minister as saying, “This intervention is not just a financial transaction—it is a reaffirmation of our President’s belief in the capacity of Nigerian youth and the invaluable role that academic and non-academic staff play in nurturing them.
” By prioritizing their welfare, we are laying the foundation for a future where every Nigerian child receives highly qualitative and globally competitive education.”
The Minister expresses President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s heartfelt appreciation to both academic and non-academic unions for their sustained trust in his administration and for fostering an atmosphere of peace and cooperation across Nigeria’s federal institutions.
Notably, the country is currently experiencing one of the longest uninterrupted academic sessions in recent history—a feat attributed to the mutual understanding and shared commitment between the government and the university community.
