Invest In Your Children’s Education, School Proprietor Urges Parents
Alhaji Yahaya Muhammad, proprietor of Islamic Leadership Academy, Kuje, FCT, has advised parents to invest in the education of their so as to secure their future.
Muhammad gave the advice on Sunday, during the graduation ceremony of no fewer than 300 students from the academy.
He said that quality education was the only lasting legacy parents could give their since it was always sure to last them a life time.
Muhammad said that the school had performed well in both academic and extra-curricular activities, and commended the graduating students for successfully completing their various levels of education.
He enjoined parents to observe and guide their children as they would be mingling with members of the society during the holidays, and expressed happiness over the graduation of 300 students from the school.
“My desire is that they will all come out tops in the various institutions they will be proceeding to, and become successful in their respective endeavours.
“They should continue to work hard to become good ambassadors of the school and the society for the development of the country,” he said.
Muhammad expressed appreciation to the teachers for their efforts in grooming the students to graduation, and urged them to sustain the efforts.
The director urged the FCT administration to upgrade the school’s laboratories with modern equipment to enhance teaching and learning.

Okpebholo Renames Edo State University
Gov. Monday Okpebholo of Edo has approved the change of name of the Edo State University, Uzairue to Edo University, Iyamho.
This is contained in a statement on Monday in Benin, by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Umar Ikhilor.
According to Ikhilor, the change of name takes immediate effect.
The SSG noted that all documentations in respect of the Institution shall ,henceforth, reflect the change.

UNIBEN Orders Immediate Online Clearance for New Students
The management of the University of Benin has ordered immediate online clearance for newly admitted students for the 2024/2025 academic session.The university’s Public Relations Officer, Dr Benedicta Ehanire, said this in a statement on Saturday in Benin.She said the exercise was expected to be concluded on Jan.
15, 2025.Ehanire said the directive affected only candidates already given admission, adding that the admission process remained ongoing even after the notice. She advised the new students and the clearance officers to take note of the latest information and act accordingly.(NAN)Education
UniAbuja Council Approves Promotion of 154 Staff Members, 33 to Professorial Rank
The Governing Council of the University of Abuja (UniAbuja), chaired by Air Vice Marshal Saddiq Kaita (Rtd), has approved the promotion of 154 members of staff to various ranks.
The Acting Director, Information and University Relations, UniAbuja, Dr Habib Yakoob, made the disclosure in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.
The university spokesperson said the promotions were approved during the council’s 98th regular meeting held in Dec.
10th, 11th 12th and 14th.Yakoob explained that among the academic staff, 19 were promoted to the rank of professors, 14 to associate professor, 20 to senior lecturer, six to lecturer 1 and one to lecturer II.
He also said that 94 non-teaching staff were promoted across various ranks, two to deputy director, six to assistant director, and others to different grades.
He gave the breakdown of the promotions to include; specialties such as automobile engineering, energy engineering, library management, international economic law, environmental and development law, political sociology, media and conflict studies.
Also, cardiology, educational administration and planning, medical microbiology, banking law and policy, science education, curriculum studies, English language education, social studies education, sociology of dance, and applied geophysics.
According to the statement, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Aisha Maikudi, in her congratulatory message to the promoted staff, commended them for their dedication, hardwork and discipline.
Maikudi said that the university was committed to ensuring timely promotions for all deserving staff, with the support of the Governing Council.
“These promotions reflect the University of Abuja’s commitment to fostering excellence, recognising merit, and encouraging growth among its staff.
“I, therefore, congratulate all the promoted individuals and urge them to continue contributing to the university’s vision of academic and professional distinction and excellence.
“All outstanding backlogs of promotion cases have been meticulously reviewed and resolved, ensuring fairness and recognition for deserving staff.
“The remaining cases are now awaiting external assessment reports, reflecting the university’s commitment to transparency, meritocracy, and timely career progression for its workforce,” she said. (NAN)
