The Kaduna State House of Assembly has lifted the suspension of its former deputy speaker, Alhaji Muktar Isa-Hazo, member representing Basawa constituency.

Isa-Hazo and three other members have been on suspension for over a year.

The decision followed a motion moved by Alhaji Ahmad Muhammad, member representing Zaria Kewaye constituency during plenary, on Wednesday in Kaduna,

Muhammad said: “I stand before you to refresh your memory that sometime in April last year, I raised a motion on the suspension of four members of the assembly.

“Namely, Alhaji Mukhtar Isa Hazo, former deputy speaker, Salisu Isa, member representing Magajin Gari constituency, Alhaji Yusuf Liman of  Makera/Kakuri and Mr Nuhu Goroh Shadalafiya, representing  Kagarko constituency.

“I am here today, to plead with the honourable speaker and the honourable members of the house on behalf of one of them, Alhaj Mukhtar Isa-Hazo of Basawa constituency, who has been pleading publicly more than once and on several occasions.

“Because of the remorse he showed, I am pleading with the speaker to look into his matter to recall him back to the chamber so as to continue with his legislative duty.”

He said that this would serve as an example to the other three members, to publicly ask for forgiveness so they could be recalled.

“It is our prayer that they will hopefully be back with us by next plenary sitting.” he pleaded.

In response, the Speaker, Alhaji Yusuf  Zailani said that he would never reject the request as he awaits the other three members to do same.

He directed the Clerk of the House to communicate the decision to Isa-Hazo, so that he will return and continue his legislative work.

“The God we all serve is a forgiving one, and if someone hurts you and you forgive, then the Almighty will forgive your own sin too.

“It is a very wonderful day for me today as one of my friends moved a motion to recall my other friends back to the house, and no matter what happen, Hazo is my friend and will continue to be,” he said.

Reports said that Isa-Hazo and the three other members were on Aug. 11, 2020 suspended for causing fracas during plenary.

Their nine months suspension, which ended in April 2021, was also extended by the assembly because of their failure to apologise to the House.

One of those involved in the alleged fracas was the former speaker of the assembly, Aminu Abdullahi-Shagali, whose seat was declared vacant and by-election conducted by INEC for Sabongari constiuency, which he represented.(NAN)

By Laide Akinboade, Abuja
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, haom Wednesday,  expressed satisfaction with the quality and speed of the ongoing road constructions in Kuje, Kuje Area Council.
The roads that were inspected by the Minister included, the six-lane dual carriageway from Airport Expressway to Kuje Junction and the five-kilometre dual carriageway from Garage Junction to LEA Secretariat, in Kuje.

The minister explained that the five-kilometre dual carriage way from Garage Junction to LEA Secretariat was nominated by the council’s chairman and stakeholders in the area.

He said that the contractor has done earth work covering 2.
5 kilometres, adding that what would follow was the drainage.
According to the Minister, “The Area Council Chairman and the stakeholders in Kuje were the ones that nominated this road. And the road is 5 kilometers and just like what the contractor said, they started from where they have difficulty so that by the time they get to where there is consent they would have sorted out the issues.
“From what they have said today, they have done the earthwork to 2 kilometers and they said before the end of the year they would have completed this particular road.
“And the one from the airport to Kuje city here, which is being handled by the Arab contractors, you can see that their work is going on very well.
“And with the quality of work we are quite satisfied too. The contractor said before the end of the year they would have completed the earthwork. It gladdens our heart that we are meeting our targets.”
Earlier, Mr Shehu Ahmad, Executive Secretary, Federal Capital Development Authority, said that the road, linking the Airport Expressway to Kuje township would cover 11 kilometres.
Ahmad explained that between the airport expressway to Kuje junction, the road would cross over two rivers and also cross over the Outer Southern Expressway that would link the city centre with Gwagwalada Expressway.
He added that the Airport Expressway to Kuje Junction would cover nine kilometres, while the remaining two kilometres would extend backward towards Kyami District.
He explained that one of the major constraints affecting the delivery of the road was the presence of five towers belonging to the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) along the road corridor.
The FCDA boss added that TCN have been contacted and have agreed to relocate the towers, stressing that until the obstructions were removed, work could not take place in the affected areas.
