Kebbi Receives 61 Almajiri From Kano

Kano State Government has repatriated 61 Almajiri Children to Kebbi State, according to Gov Atiku Bagudu.


The children, who were brought back to their state of origin, Kebbi, were in company of their Teacher.


They were received in Birnin Kebbi, Friday, at the IDP camp in Kalgo witnessed by the governor and the various stakeholders, including members of the State Executive Council, local government councils’ chairmen and State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) among others.


Speaking at the event, the Governor said that, the repatriation of the children to Kebbi State, by the Kano State Government, was in line with the recent decision taken by the Governors of the 19 Northern states.


According to him, the children were earlier tested by the Kano State Government and duly declared COVID-19 free.


Bagudu said that those who have tested positive to the disease were left at Kano, receiving treatment, and will be repatriated afterwards.


The governor explained that the decision to repatriate such children to their various states of origin was unanimously taken by the Governors.
“This decision was taken in the best interest of the children, as well as the educational development of the region.
” Education is the fundamental human right of these children and we will not tinker with it. 
“These children are from Maiyama, Jega, Argungu, Dandi, Suru, Bagudo and Kalgo.
“They will be handed over to the chairmen, for them to be reunited with their various families, for continuation of their education.
“Their proper identities would be ascertained and those whose proper identifies could not be immediately ascertained will be taken to the various Government orphanages 
“The state government will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that, these children’s education is not toyed with.”
The governor also announced that, each of the children would be given a token amount of money, as a start up base for the continuation of his education.


The governor also announced that, the state government will also soon conduct a census of all the Almajiri Children across the state.


This, he noted, was with the view to reunite those from the state, with their various families and for the continuation of their education.


Bagudu disclosed that, those from other states in Nigeria will be repatriated back to their states of origin, while those from the neighboring counties will be repatriated back to their countries, through the Federal Government.


Earlier, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Alhaji Muhammadu Magawata Aliero told the Almajiri that since the Kano State Government announced the decision to return them  back to Kebbi, Governor Bagudu had expressed his utmost concern about their welfare up till the time they arrived Kebbi State.
The Chairman, Task Force on COVID -19, who is also the state Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Jafar Muhammed, also emphasized that before the 61 almajiri were repatriated to the state, the Kano state Government had ensured that they were tested,  the result turned out to be negative and certified COVID -19 free.


He rolled out the number of the Almajiri children and the seven local government areas of their origin as Maiyama local government area, 13, Jega, 9, Argungu 13, Dandi 18, Kalgo 4, Bagudo 3, while Suru local government area has only 1.


Jafar handed over the children to the chairmen of the seven local government areas for onward delivery to their parents.

The new system enables the state to receive supplies directly from manufacturers, ensuring that every batch of drugs can be traced and any problems swiftly addressed.This development is a significant step towards eliminating substandard medications and improving the overall quality of healthcare in the state.
Deri emphasized that the centralization of drug procurement with reliable data has not only improved efficiency but also reduced costs, making medicines more affordable for both the poor and the general public. Governor Fintiri’s prioritization of healthcare has been instrumental to the agency’s success, and the state’s swift establishment of the Health Supply Management Agency has been recognized nationally.The agency’s recapitalization has also revitalized the pharmacy profession in the state, with pharmacists who previously left the state for better opportunities returning to Adamawa. The government has provided all necessary working tools, encouraging pharmacists to join the civil service.With newly built hospitals, upgraded facilities, and a steady supply of quality drugs, the Adamawa State Health Supply Management Agency is setting a new standard for healthcare delivery in the region. The agency’s efforts are expected to improve the health and well-being of the people of Adamawa State, and its success serves as a model for other states in Nigeria.

A US based Film Director, Taiwo Oduala has commended the unprecedented achievements and humanitarian services being rendered to the less privileged by philanthropists and corporate organisations.Oduala gave the commendation while speaking with newsmen on Monday in Lokoja.

The Nigerian born film director, who hosts the Afro Awards in Los Angeles, America, said life is all about service to God and humanity, no matter how low or highly placed in the society.
He said that the love for mankind that some individuals and organizations are displaying across the globe gave birth to the Afro Awards four years ago.The founder and executive producer of the Afro Awards, said the awards were solely aimed to recognize and honor individuals, who have demonstrated exceptional humanitarian excellence in various fields.

Kogi Monarch Hails Ododo’s Leadership Style, Promises Peace Maintenance

His Royal Majesty, Oba Johnson Kolade Otitoju, the Akinrin of Ekinrin in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi state has commended Governor Usman Ododo’s Leadership Style with a promise to complement government’s efforts in maintaining peace and order in his domain.

He said Governor Ododo’s administration has been impactful and demonstrated a high level of human face leadership capacity.
His Royal Majesty gave the commendation while speaking at the one-year anniversary of his receipt of the staff of office as a first-class traditional ruler.”One year ago, the Akinrin of Ekinrin was honored with the staff of office by Governor Usman Ododo during a colorful ceremony attended by a large crowd at the Kogi State Government House’s Glass House in Lokoja, Kogi State.
