Lagos APC Says Nigeria on Threshold of Industrial Revolution
The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) said Nigeria is now on the threshold of a new industrial revolution.
The APC Spokesman, Seye Oladejo, said, in a statement on Monday in Lagos, that the transformation was being driven by President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Oladejo said that the agenda was unlocking the country’s vast mineral wealth for sustainable growth.
He said the Tinubu administration had redefined Nigeria’s economic direction through strategic reforms in mineral exploration and industrial development.
Oladejo said decades of dependence on crude oil had stunted the nation’s industrial potential, leaving huge mineral resources untapped.
He said the Renewed Hope Agenda had reversed that trend through a bold diversification blueprint, anchored on transparency and local value addition.
According to him, President Tinubu’s economic vision is positioning solid minerals as the new frontier of Nigeria’s industrial future.
“The mining sector is being rebuilt to support processing, manufacturing, and technology-driven industries,” Oladejo said.
According to him, the Nigerian Mineral Resource Strategy (2024–2033) is a 10-year roadmap designed to attract investors and promote community participation.
Oladejo noted that the establishment of the Nigerian Solid Minerals Development Company (NSMDC) had enhanced private sector partnership and investment coordination.
He said other key initiatives included the creation of Mineral Resource and Environmental Management Committees across states and the Mining Marshals Initiative under the NSCDC.
According to him, the government has also provided incentives such as tax holidays, duty waivers, and full profit repatriation to attract global investors.
He said reforms at the Mining Cadastre Office had ensured digital licensing and transparency, thereby boosting confidence among local and foreign stakeholders.
“The results are already visible,” he said, citing major investments by Qatar, Canada, China, and Australia in Nigeria’s mineral development.
Oladejo said these investments, worth billions of dollars, were focused on lithium, gold, granite, zinc, and rare earth elements.
He noted that these projects would stimulate industrial activities in sectors such as energy, cement, ceramics, and electronics manufacturing.
According to him, the Tinubu administration is also ensuring sustainability through local processing rather than export of raw minerals.
He said partnerships with the African Finance Corporation and the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority were providing infrastructure financing for mining corridors and industrial parks.
Oladejo described the Renewed Hope Agenda as a catalyst for inclusive development, job creation, and long-term prosperity.
He praised President Tinubu and the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake, for demonstrating foresight and leadership in repositioning the sector.
“The Renewed Hope Agenda has set Nigeria on a firm path toward a knowledge-driven, technology-based industrial revolution,” Oladejo said.
He added that the Lagos APC fully supports the Federal Government’s efforts to transform mineral wealth into lasting national prosperity.
Nigeria’s solid minerals sector remained underdeveloped for decades despite vast deposits of gold, lithium, limestone, and iron ore across many states.
The Renewed Hope Agenda seeks to diversify the economy, strengthen non-oil exports, and create an industrial value chain through responsible mineral exploitation.

Palm Sunday Killings in Jos: Nigeria Cannot Keep Bleeding Like This, CAN, insist
By Laide Akinboade, Abuja
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN),condemned, in the strongest possible terms, the horrific attack that took place on Palm Sunday, 29 March 2026, in Angwan Rukuba, Gari Ya Waye area of Jos North, Plateau State.
In a statement issued and signed by Archbishop Daniel Okoh,President,
CAN, in Abuja.
He said Nigerians are tired of mourning, crying, what Nigerians want is action, for those responsible must be found, arrested and made to face justice; swiftly and decisively.
The CAN President lamented that, Palm Sunday is meant to be a day of peace, of hope, of reflection. Instead, it became a day of bloodshed.
Innocent Nigerians; men, women and children were hunted and killed in cold blood. He stressed that, the killing ‘is not just tragic; it is unacceptable’.
According to Okoh, “”A nation cannot keep bleeding like this and expect to move forward. We owe the dead justice. We owe the living protection. And we owe our future a country where no community wakes up to gunfire on a sacred day”.
He said, “Armed men, reportedly in significant numbers, moved into a civilian community, disguised in uniforms resembling those of our security forces, and opened fire on defenceless people. Lives were cut short in minutes. Families have been shattered. A community has been traumatised”.
He noted, “We mourn. We grieve. But we must also speak the truth. How did we get here? How is it that people can no longer feel safe in their own homes? How is it that, even on a sacred day, communities are left exposed to such terror?
He lamented, “Nigerians are tired of mourning. Nigerians are tired of statements. Nigerians want to see action. Those responsible for this atrocity must be found, arrested and made to face justice; swiftly and decisively. Anything less will only deepen the sense that life in our country is no longer protected.
“The use of fake or imitation military uniforms by these attackers is particularly alarming. It strikes at the very heart of public trust and must be thoroughly investigated. Our security institutions must not only respond; they must stay ahead of these threats”.
The CAN boss, acknowledged the efforts of the Plateau State Government so far.
“But let it be said clearly: temporary measures are not enough. The people of Plateau, and indeed all Nigerians, deserve lasting security, not periodic reassurance”.
He therefore urged Christians across Nigeria to be prayerful and vigilant.
“To our Christian faithful across the nation, I speak to you as we walk through this solemn Holy Week. Be prayerful, but also be vigilant. As you prepare for Good Friday solemnities and the Stations of the Cross (in some denominations), and as churches gather for Easter Eve vigils and night services, take deliberate steps to protect yourselves and your congregations. Stay alert. Work with security agencies and local authorities. Look out for one another.
“Faith must remain strong, but it must also be paired with wisdom. We will not allow fear to silence our worship. But neither will we ignore the dangers around us. Holy Week reminds us that light will always overcome darkness. Yet let us be honest, Nigeria is passing through a dark and painful moment. This must be a turning point”.

Northern Govs Approve N500m Each for Secretariat Project
By David Torough, Abuja
The Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) and Governor of Hombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has said that his colleagues have agreed to contribute N500 million each towards the construction of a permanent secretariat for the forum.
He disclosed this on Monday during the forum’s meeting in Abuja.
Acknowledging improvements in the security situation in the region since their last meeting in December 2025, Yahaya called on the governors to sustain and intensify efforts to tackle insecurity across the region, warning that recent gains could be reversed without continued vigilance.
He attributed the progress to coordinated actions by state governments, backed by the Federal Government, but stressed that the region must not relent.
“Though we have recorded measurable progress, there is no room for complacency. We must consolidate on these gains by addressing emerging threats and ensuring lasting peace across the region,” he said.
In a statement issued by the Director-General, Press Affairs, Government House Gombe, Isma’ila Uba Misilli, the governor described security as the foundation of development, noting that the protection of lives and property must remain a top priority.
He also said ongoing efforts to strengthen the institutional framework of the NSGF were yielding results, positioning the forum for more effective coordination and policy implementation.
On funding security operations, Yahaya reiterated the forum’s decision to establish a Northern States Security Trust Fund, with each state contributing N1 billion monthly.
He disclosed that some states, including Gombe, Nasarawa, Borno, Kebbi and Kaduna, had already commenced payments, and urged others to comply.
The NSGF chairman reaffirmed support for the creation of state police, describing it as a critical step towards addressing Nigeria’s complex security challenges through community-based and intelligence-driven approaches.
He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership and commitment to the initiative in collaboration with the National Assembly.
Yahaya also linked insecurity to socio-economic challenges such as poverty, unemployment and illiteracy, calling for greater investment in education and human capital development.
He warned that the growing number of out-of-school children in the region poses a serious threat to long-term stability.
The governor further urged proactive measures to prevent farmer-herder conflicts as the rainy season approaches, while expressing support for federal government efforts to modernise livestock management.
He called for unity among northern governors, stressing that only collective action can guarantee lasting peace and development in the region.
