The Armed Force of Nigeria (AFN), on Friday vowed to provide the minimum necessary force to support the Nigerian Police Force and other security agencies to checkmate the nefarious activities of criminals taking advantage on the law abiding citizens observing the lockdown directives.
Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, DHQ, Major General John Enenche said this while updating newsmen on the preparedness of the AFN in fight against COVID-19 pandemic at its headquarters in Abuja.
Enenche who promised to take toll on criminals, assured Nigerians of the Nigerian Military’s commitment to ensure security of lives and property.
He urged residents especially in Lagos, Ogun, Abuja and its environs not to Panic if they see movement of large numbers of personnel in the public domain.
“All criminally minded individuals are hereby warned to desist from disturbing the peace of other citizens of the Country. Otherwise they will be tackled appropriately in line with the principles of Internal Security Operations and Rules of Engagement”. Enenche said.
The coordinator, said to enhance the testing capacity of coronavirus in the country, Nigerian Military has provided two military laboratories located in Abuja and Lagos as its own efforts in supporting the federal government in the fight against the pandemic.
The two laboratories provided by the Military include; the Defence Reference Laboratory in Abuja and Nigerian Air Force Reference Laboratory in Lagos.
Maj. Gen. Enenche while appealing to the general public to strictly adhere to lockdown directive as it is for benefits of their health, called on them to avail credible information to law enforcement agencies on criminal activities in their neighbourhoods for appropriate action.
