More Governors Will Defect to APC – Yilwatda

The APC National chairman has declared that more governors will dump their parties and join the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Yilwatda, represented by the Deputy National Chairman (South), Chief Emma Eneukwu, spoke at the 12th Expanded Stakeholders’ Meeting of the Bayelsa State chapter of the party in Yenagoa, where the APC formally endorsed Tinubu as its sole presidential candidate for 2027.

He said Tinubu’s governance style and performance had continued to attract defections from opposition figures, adding that more senators and House of Representatives members were also joining the ruling party.

It would be recalled that Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the APC to back the President’s re-election.

Yilwatda said: “Our doors are still open. More governors are moving into our party; more senators and House members are also joining because of the calibre, integrity, and output of the person we made president. Opponents may bark, but when a lion is at work, it doesn’t take notice of small animals.

He commended South-South governors for what he described as their “realism and political maturity” in aligning with the APC, saying their defection reflected confidence in Tinubu’s leadership.

“Because of what they saw in Mr President, they have abandoned their political parties to join our great party so that we can work together to move Nigeria forward. From the South-South to the South-East, leaders are making the same choice because they want a greater Nigeria. They are leaving their parties to support Mr President in 2027 and ensure an overwhelming victory,” Yilwatda added.

The APC chairman further hailed Tinubu’s courage in taking on reforms that others lacked the political will to implement.

“This president is not afraid. He takes the bull by the horns. What others could not do, he has done and is achieving results. President Tinubu is on the move to take Nigeria to greater heights,” he said.

However the Senate Committee Chairman on Public Account who was a former Accountant General of the Federation, Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo stood down the reports of the Niger Delta Development Commission ( NDDC) ‘s submission saying the measure was to offer members enough time to study the report while ordering the Agency to reappear midweek.

Senator Dankwambo who was visibly upset following the non – appearance of the Auditor – General of the Federation for the investigative session without any valid or representative however threatened that the Auditor General must unfailingly appear before the Committee on Tuesday next week or risk a forced appearance through the invocation of the powers of the National Assembly.

The City Boy Movement (CBM) has replaced its Oyo State Coordinator, Ahmed Ajibola, following allegations of gross misconduct, insubordination, and conduct prejudicial to the interests of the organisation.

This is contained in a statement issued in Ibadan on Thursday by the Director-General of the Movement, Mr Francis Shoga.

Shoga said that Ajibola’s replacement followed allegations of making offensive comments about the Movement’s patron, Seyi Tinubu and derogatory remarks directed at President Bola Tinubu.

The movement’s D-G also accused Ajibola of engaging in conduct capable of bringing the image and reputation of the City Boy Movement into disrepute.

The CBM consequently announced the appointment of Adewale Oladiti as the new Coordinator for Oyo State.

Oladiti’s appointment, Shoga said, was due to his commitment, grassroots engagement, and willingness to contribute to the growth and advancement of the organisation in the state.

The City Boy Movement is a support group associated with the political interests of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
