Mutfwang Appoints Gyang Bere as Director of Press

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang has approved the appointment of Gyang Bere as the Director of Press and Public Affairs (DOPA). 

This was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the Government of the State (SGS), Arc.

Samuel Jatau yesterday, who said the appointment was with immediate effect.
 

The New Director of Press until his appointment was the Special Assistant to the Governor on Media.

A former State Correspondent of The Sun Newspaper and Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Plateau State Council.

The statement reads in path, “The Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency Barr.

Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has approved the appointment of Gyang Musa Bere as the Director of Press and Public Affairs (DOPA).

“Until his appointment, Bere was the Special Assistant (Media) to the Executive Governor and Chairman, Correspondents’ Chapel, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Plateau State Council. The appointment is with immediate effect, please.”

Police Denounce Booing of Emir Sanusi, Warn Troublemakers

The Police Command in Kano State has expressed displeasure  over the booing  entourage of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II by some individuals while he was returning to his palace after Eid prayers.

This is contained in a Statement issued by the command’s spokesman, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, in Kano on Monday.

He said that, the incident occurred when the Emir took a different route, as part of his religious obligation.

He said unfortunately, he was booed within the vicinity of Festival Primary School and Zage/Zango areas by some unidentified persons.

“Currently, the police command is monitoring the entire Sallah events to ensure law and order are maintained, adequate security measures are in place to tackle any form of security threats.

“Accordingly, the police command is warning individuals intending to cause chaos or breach the peace during the Sallah celebration to stay clear of the state’’, he said.

The spokesman further stated that at the moment adequate security personnel had been deployed to arrest anyone attempting to cause a breakdown of law and order.

The police warned members of the public to desist from carrying weapons during and after the celebration, saying that anyone found would meet stiff penalties.

“Rigorous stop-and-search operations and patrols are ongoing in all Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the metropolitan area to ensure a peaceful celebration”, Kiyawa said. (NAN)

Anambra police Intercept Alleged Gun Runner, Recover 375 Live Cartridges

The Police Command in anambra says it has arrested 48-year-old Felix Owaya, in possession of 375 live cartridges.

SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Onitsha on Monday.

Ikenga stated that the suspect hail from Ika South Local Government Area of Delta.

He also stated that the police operatives attached to Fegge Division made the arrest, while on patrol along Niger Street, Onitsha on Saturday.

He added that during interrogation, the suspect confessed that he was sent by one Mr Charles Ogboma to a yet-to-be-identified man to collect the ammunition.

He explained that investigation on the matter was still ongoing.

According to him, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Nnaghe Itam, commended the operatives for their vigilance and tenacity of purpose.

Itam was quoted to have directed all the personnel in the command to sustain the tempo of crime prevention and detection in service of the people and state. (NAN)

Olomojobi’s Appointment as Ekiti Head of Service Well-deserved – Medical Women

Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN), Ekiti chapter, has congratulated Dr Folakemi Olomojobi on her appointment as the new Head of Service in the state.
